FALLEN ANGEL REPORT: SANDY K POST_OP

Hi, everyone --- I am a bit of a 'fallen angel', I'm afraid. I was

unable to visit Sandy as I hoped to this weekend(I saw her on Thursday

before her second surgery and wanted to visit yesterday -- Liam has a

stomach virus and I've been going quickly insane trying to prepare for

my mother's arrival this Wednesday... My dh just got back from a week

in San Francisco so being together this weekend was essential not only

for our sanity but also necessary to get this place cleaned up!)..

I know that she really could have used a shoulder to lean on these

past few days. Of course, her dh BOB is ALWAYS there so it's not like

she's alone or anything. It's just that she's in the ICU and

incommunicado for the time being. She doesn't have a line out and

can't even use her trust cellular! I know that must be driving her

crazy...

I've printed out TEN WHOLE pages of well wishes for her! I wish I

could just transport the pages over there to her bedside now!

I spoke with Bob today --- Sandy *is* doing better. However, she

still has fluid in her lungs and her oxygen level plummets the minute

she removes her oxygen mask (thank God they don't have that nasty tube

down her again - remember, she took that OUT when the nurse wasn't

LOOKING? ROFL). Dr. Gagner wants to keep her in for ANOTHER WEEK OR

TWO. Bob isn't sure when she'll be released from the ICU exactly but

he will get in touch with me and I will keep everyone posted. I will

certainly let you know when she's back on 10E (maybe not her old room,

not sure) and/or if her status changes in any way.

I also got a request to send the Mt. Sinai mailing address ---- I WILL

do that, TJ! Sorry for the delay for the past few days. It's been

terribly hectic around here lately. It's as if I got put on automatic

fast forward all of the sudden! Has this happened to anyone else

about a week and a half before surgery? I totally didn't expect it!

I will call now and get that address out to anyone who wants to send

cards, flowers, well wishes - whatever! The main number is:

if you asked for it (Sandy Kane).. and I know Sandy doesn't have

access to a phone.... But, for what it's worth! :)

I know that Bridget mentioned she will be at Mt. Sinai for her follow

up --- Hopefully she will have the chance to visit. I will come see

Sandy either Wed. or Thurs (my mom is flying into Newark airport -

what a drive - on Wed afternoon, so we'll see if I can make the

evening support group, etc. on Wed)..
