Guest guest
Get real close to the mirror and part your hair down the middle...now hold each side of the part down with the palms of your hand...what you should see is little sprouts sticking up out of the part. Doing this with dry hair is better but you can see the baby hairs with it wet too. This will prove that you are not going bald. These hairs are replacing with new ones, but if your hair grows as slow as mine does you will not notice it unless you are looking for it. It took me close to 3 years for my hair to finally all grow back out, and believe me, I have been a hairstylist since 1975 and this was truley a hairdressers NIGHTMARE for me. Aloha, Peggy Hair Loss Hi, I am new in this group. I am 15 months post RNY, have had steady slow hairloss since surgery, but am getting extremely close to feeling like I'm going bald. I've been gagging down protein supplements, eating at least 5 egg whites every day, increased my fat intake because I was told that hair follicles need some fat and I was getting none, used Nioxin, am using Minoxidil and after all that am still very distressed about my hair loss. I ride a motorcycle, so a wig isn't a very good option since that would simply come off with the helmet (or wind). I'm not pleased with my weight loss... I stopped losing at 191 pounds about 7 months ago and haven't gained or lost since then (I'm only 5'4 " ). OK, so help me out here on the hair situation since my PCP is clueless. Oh yeah, and is Jerri in this group? I lost touch with her and would love to say hi again. I don't know who I am registered as, but I was Teach4th back when my surgery was new. Guest guest
Well, I was doing really good with the Shaklee protein and no hair loss, when I went to the hair dressers this last weekend. It seems my hair was coming out more than normal, she asked what was going on. Well, although I had ran out of Shaklee 4 days prior, I had also changed shampoos. I had dry scalp and was using Head and Sholders. She told me to throw it away and to check the bottle of any shampoo that I get. She told me to get hydrated shampoo or any shampoo that is low in alcyline (sp?). The old shampoos are high in AL and can strip your hair. So I have changed shampoos and gone back to my Shaklee protein and things are already calming down on the hair loss. MJ motorcyciemama@... wrote: > > Hi, > I am new in this group. Guest guest
My hair had thinned out quite a bit and I started taking Biotin at about 1 year post-op. My hair started filling back in after that and looks great now. I can't swear that it was the Biotin that did it, but it seems that way.
