As a general rule I'd expect ruminants' meat to be similar in benefit. I

do know goat meat tends to be a lot leaner, though, so perhaps some caution

(and fat supplementation) is in order. OTOH, perhaps this is just because

goats are more often pastured and thus more often have natural fat deposition?

Once you stray beyond ruminants, it becomes trickier. I'd be VERY VERY

cautious about pork, for example. Though this won't apply everywhere, pigs

are the meat animal most often treated as garbage disposals, even fed such

toxic waste as used fryer grease, and because they're not ruminants, their

lipid profile very closely resembles their diet. IOW, you ought to avoid

pigs fed soy, corn, etc. I don't actually know what pigs should eat

besides skim milk and whatever grubs, fruits and whatnot they dig up and,

of course, ordinary kitchen scraps.

Roman,

Properly raised they are all good (with the exception of pork). Eat what

is available in your area. Personally lamb is one of my favorite red

meats and it has lots of fat. Yummm!

lamb too. As prices turn out to be pretty good (that's

usually the case when buying directly), I'd like to

take advantage of the opportunity. But I've mostly

heard about beef's benefits. Bianca has specifically

mentioned beef and fish. But that farmer has no beef,

and I don't know how good goat meat is. I know some

people live mostly on lamb, and they live long lives.

That should indicate that at least lamb is not too

bad. I'd appreciate comments on this.

Thanks

Roman

Speaking of lamb, I've noticed that it tastes fairly sweet when eaten raw.

Does it have any sugar in it, or is this due to something else?

What is the problem with pork?
