Guest guest
<<< I was wondering if you use yogurt in salad dressings. And also which recipes you use for salad dressings. >>> Hi Dennis, I haven't tried yogurt in salad dressing yet, but as others have posted, I'll bet it's good. I essentially use the basic salad dressing in NT. At the grocery store in the salad dressing section that have a thing called " Good Seasons " or something like that. Anyway it's like a little kit to make your own dressing and I had the bottle left over from my pre NT days. The bottle itself is really handy because you don't have to dirty up stuff measuring ingredients and makes dressing making go even faster. If anything happens to my bottle I'll buy another kit just to get the bottle because its' so handy. If you're not familiar with it, it has three lines on the bottle. You fill it to the first line with vinegar. Fill it to the second line with water and to the third line with oil. Add your seasonings, shake it up and you're done. It makes enough for several salads. Has a nifty flip top spout for pouring too. I use any kind of raw vinegar. My favorite is still apple cider vinegar. I don't use water, but make up for it with either oil or vinegar. I use a tablespoon or so of walnut oil and then the rest of the oil is a really nice quality olive oil. I do all sorts of things with herbs and spices. My food co-op has some nice blends. One is a pizza blend with things like basil, oregano, garlic, etc. They have another one that's dill, lemon peel and sesame seeds. I sometimes use a Dijon style mustard and some honey. Just play with the herbs and spices. Sally just takes the basic dressing recipe and expands from it. She adds blue cheese, kefir and other things to alter the flavors, consistency, etc. <<<< The family likes most of the stuff I make but getting them to do some " processing " is one of my goals. I have so many " other " things to do. Like so many people. >>>> Perhaps you could read them the story about the little red hen Carmen

Like the pizza spices in the dressing and then on the salad? If so, I never thought of that. I've gotta get some spices and herbs in the pot too cause the poultry smell is not real great. Any ideas? Dennis
Guest guest
Would a dishwasher be worth getting for the kitchen to expedite NT'ing. Keep in mind it costs $500. It seems like I have to soak and wash dishes in the kitchen 15 to 30 minutes every time I go to the kitchen. Even to strain the milk. I've gotten this idea that while NT " bugs " are desirable, I don't like adding others (undesirable?). Dennis

Ours was less than $300 at Home Depot about 6 years ago. At the time we were trying to make a go of our own store, had one day off and farm animals. I'd spend the day off catching up on dishes. Even now with all the food processing that goes on here all but a few months out of the year I couldn't be without one. Wanita

I'd probably be living on Burger King and Haagen Daz. <g> -
