Guest guest
Hey Group. I haven't posted here in awhile. I am expecting baby 3 on Christmas day. My first Dr. visit I was put on the AWFUL! food pyramid, gimme diabetes, make a me sick, and ruin my eating plans diet LOL. ACK! I gained 13 pounds the first month. My first eating class I attended for WIC, they fixed a banana split. I was very upset. Of course their line was, " But it is low in fat " . The next Dr. visit, I told my Dr. that there was no way I could eat this way and NOT develop gestational diabetes again. I just told him that I was returning to my low-carbohydrate, med-high protein plan and re-assured him that I was would be getting great nutrition. I only eat (1) slice of bread and have 2 fruits a day. I don't let ketosis kick in. But, the next visit, one month later, I had only gained 3 pounds. I had an ultrasound and it was sooooo cute. I could see the spine and head. He/she was just wriggling around. I really got some good advice from members of this list as well as my own list. One lady, can't remember her name, had twins while on Atkins the entire time. Baby's were healthy as could be.... :-)))) Talk to you all later. Keep up the good work. I LCed while pg with her and she is healthy, happy and in the words of her pediatrician a 'thriving' baby. I was in ketosis for a while in my pg but not intentionally. I just didn't have much of an appetite. The OB was aware of my eating plan, didn't like it, but he couldn't do anything about it now could he? He told me that if I were in ketosis to drink more water. I am now breastfeeding my baby and continuing LC and she is still doing great. Enjoy this time. I used my pg to not be obsessive about counting carbs while I was still aware of what I was eating. Plus I enjoyed eating my LC treats every day. Oh, BTW are you on the pregnantatkids list at yahoo? It will give you some extra support throughout your pregnancy while doing LC. I got a lot of info and encouragment from that list. If you want to join, just let me know. Congratulations!!
