Guest guest
My daughter Gwen who will be 3 in July has a port. She had hers put in when she was 10 months old (because all else failed). It is located above the left breast. I am thankful for the port, we had no other choice because we could not get the IV's in, so no meds. I really don't think their is any ugliness to it. I never looked at it that way at all. When she first got her port it was really noticeable because she was so underweight, but now you can barely see it. I do have a hard time when I bathe her or touch it-just because it is their. She is hospitalized quite often and we have a very short hospital stay and insist on going home after all the tests are done.(we even live an hour from the hospital) The port does need to be flushed once a month and we even do that ourselves. I will be happy to answer any questions you have, or just want to talk. Well all take care, Danyelle Mom to Gwendolyn almost 3 w/CF, sinusitis, reflex, port-a-cath, Chase 5, Haydn 7,
