Guest guest
NO!!! Kefir will explode! Been there, done that and had a huge mess! And I didn't do it just once! I couldn't figure out what the problem was until a fellow that was researching fermented sausage told me of my error.
Guest guest
- >Also, is kefir an adequate substitute for whey when >fermenting fruits and vegetables? Do you mean kefir itself, or whey from kefir? In the case of kefir whey (and probably kefir too) you have to be wary of CO2 production due to the yeasts in the kefir culture. If you need to seal the container, it'll explode. -
Guest guest
Hi, I just made a batch of Queso Blanco (white cheese) from some raw goats' milk. Underneath the cheesecloth in the pan I caught about 3 qts. of wonderful whey. I hated to think and admit that before NT days, I used to feed that whey to my chickens or worse yet--sometimes would dump it down the drain for lack of knowing better what to do with it! Now I have a perfect solution to all my excess whey " problems " . Teshuah
