Then again, I live in the most expensive city in this country (SF is a close tie...) and it's not easy to find quality food as it all has to be trucked in from somewhere. I would say one advantage to a strict vegan diet that doesn't use much processed fake meat and such is how darn cheap it is. The four hours I was able to stick to an all raw vegan diet seemed like a gift to my pocketbook. Of course, this doesn't take into account your medical bills later on... It's also a lot more expensive if you're trying to shop in the convenience of your local co-ops, health food stores, and natural foods aisles instead of finding direct supplier sources.
