Guest guest
First I just want to say THANK you to everyone for really helping this very frustrated and confused mom. Right now I am not only dealing with the fact that my son may have some pretty serious biological problems, but the fact that I saw warning signs for SO long , but perhaps did not take this " side " of autism intervention so seriously. I think my son , although still clearly challenged has made REMARKABLE strides using ABA treatment and I will fight till I die until it is funded completely in my home country of Canada. But that being said, I feel so shitty right now, after reading and Karyn's books because once again I feel I may have let my son down, inadvertantly or not. We are so low income and I have never been able to provide the quality of therapy many others can, that I have had to deal with. My son is going to be five this January...and clearly I am still not that close the the entire picture. If I want to keep buying GF supplies, then other things are out of the question, such as proper medical consultation re: DAN! protocol, extensive testing etc..it is literally not financially possible. So I rely so much on those who have been there done that, and thus I have been posting a fair amount lately as I REALLY dig in to find out how to help my baby. Please bare with my stupid, some not so stupid questions, I feel like right now all I am doing is taking taking taking from this list and giving nothing back. It doesn't feel very good. So there that is off my chest....now does anyone know a good EFA I can supplement with? Name brand would be helpful. Thanks Holly for the PST info mucho appreciated mi tequilla amiga. I still need to know about Vanilla...but if this is phenolic, what I am trying to do is make a yummy rice shake for Luke and I am reluctant to add fruit...so any ideas are welcome. I need to get some meat on this guy. His muscle tone is terrible. And as for politicians... they all lie, deceive and appease to get votes. What we have to do as responsible voters is deceide who just does it to a lesser degree. Just look to Ontario's health Minister and her load of crap she laid out before election time...now re elected the truth of the new inititive for autism actually unfolds...and in closing...I can say one thing GREAT about Texas...Bush or no Bush...Mathew MacConnehay * ladies can you say scwiiiiiing* Anyway if I was American and could vote...I think I would vote for Holly Bortfield, she has bigger balls than anyone I know....and believe SHE is the woman for the job! norrah nwhitney@... Guest guest
Norrah, I find myself in much the same position that you are in. Limited resources for medical treatment, and no experienced professionals in my area anyway. But I do have some tips for saving money that I learned along the way, and some of them may help. Stick with very basic food. It seems our children can only be given the purest of foods, so the fewer ingredients on the label, the better. Add some pieces of kitchen equipment like a grain mill, and a soy milk maker. We found a used grain mill for $45, and it will save us that much before Christmas. I started feeding Remy cooked grains for breakfast, polenta, cream of rice, etc. They are easy to make and good for him. Forget the $5 boxes of mail order cereal. Dinner is easy. Except for giving up cheese, not much has changed. We traded wheat bread and burritos for rice bread and corn tortillas. Rice and beans, corn pasta with pesto sauce, pizza with fresh vegies, mashed potatoes and gravy, we are not deprived. If you can find a food buying coop, or talk a restaurant in your area into letting you add to their order, you can get some screaming deals on bulk food. And quit beating yourself up. You are doing a wonderful thing. > First I just want to say THANK you to everyone for really helping this very > frustrated and confused mom.
