thanks,

My doctor said not to use Citracel or metamucel

because they require too much water. they can also

cause a blockage in people with the RNY. I think I

may just keep to the dieters tea. It seems to work

well. It just cleans you completely out.

I remember using dieters tea a long time ago before surgery. It

worked but it caused an awful lot of painful cramping. Just my 2

cents.

I have a question. I am diabetic and always constipated. I found by accident

that if I eat 4 to 6 sugar free sugar waffer cookies it helps farly fast. Do

you think this is something I should use post op [dec 17] sue

That's because sugar-free baked goods are often sweetened with sorbitol,

which tastes sweet and is an excellent laxative. Because of the way it

works, though, it might make you dump if you eat too much -- postop

folks? Has this been your experience?

Sue - You won't be able to eat that many cookies at one time, at least I

don't think you will. But maybe you won't need as many to get them to work.

You may not want to consume the carbs that are in the cookies after surgery

either. Just a thought.

The sugar free stuff worked so well before surgery but not after. I

don't know why.

Ya''ll make me feel " abnormal " . I " go " once a day, in the morning, about 1

hour after my cup of coffee... don't go again til the next morning. No

diarrhea, unless sick, no constipation, unless PMS'ing and then it lasts one

day, no longer.

To cancel out constipation. BUT so far, looks like the headache might get me

first. Sigh.

I tried mag citrate last week and it worked pretty well - my pouch was

not happy for a day but- thats ok - I also tried Correctol yesterday

and a dulcolax suppository and it worked. Its not much fun but its

much more fun than being constipated. Good luck to all - still looking

for a better way. deb in NE
