Guest guest
>Would they prosecute any child for daydreaming in case they >were praying?!! You can pray silently on your own time and have moments of silence, etc. - and we even had a pastor giving a prayer at our graduation, which was probably illegal - but you can’t have school-sponsored praying or put any students in a position where they feel pressured to pray. Your joking argument is the same one that some fundamentalists have tried to use to let their children lead prayers in their schools. Doesn’t seem to work much. It’s better than France, where you aren’t allowed to show any religious affiliation at all in the government schools. That Muslim girls can’t wear head coverings, is the big fight lately. Or Italy where every child is required to have religion class where they learn *only* about Catholicism. If the child’s parents don’t want them to have that class, they have to go sit in study hall by themselves and can’t take another class or do anything else during that time.
