Its funny, I really don't remember writing that - did you find it in the

archives?

And no, breastfed babies do not need water, even in hot weather. If they

are thirsty they will tend to feed more frequently. As for supplements -

breastmilk is nutritionally perfect - each mother makes the milk that is

just right for her baby. I'm sure will tell you that when she was

in ?Kosovo she saw mothers and babies in the most appalling conditions who

were still feeding very ably. The Vitamin D thing came from some research

about babies " of colour " who were not exposed to sunlight at all.

Have a look at http://members.aol.com/tireswing/index.html, click on table

of contents then Old Myths that Will Not Die ; it has interesting research

based items on babies and water and also Vit D supplements and Why Vit C

does not cure or prevent colds.

If I didn't write it, then I must have missed it when someone came up

with the exact same experience as me. It was a week or two ago,

though, I think.

This is brilliant! I am going to force my DH to read the part about

getting cold makes you get a cold. He absolutely insists that it does,

which is definitely his French breeding coming out. They believe that

even the slightest draft will make you ill and are positively paranoid

about it.

Thanks for teh site!
