I just found out from the school that I can get my business degree as long as I have their undergrad requirements for certain hours of certain classes and if I keep my gpa high enough then I can get in. Assuming of course I can get in.. but I think I can.

My only problem with math or any class for that matter is the learning disability, BUT... I know that if I can just figure out how I need to learn something, I'll be fine.

Yay!!

love to all,

's idea of becoming a doctor (was Advice pls for healthcheckusa options)

,If there is some area you are weak in (say math) then that just means you need to try that much harder. If you're willing to work like a mad-woman, nothing can prevent you from your goal - no matter what that goal. If you look around hard enough, you'll find there are people who have overcome insurmountable odds and beaten the norm. And just think, you're not facing insurmountable odds - you can think and reason well, you have a body that may be functioning under par, but it still functions! So, I think you can do it. As long as there is breath in the body there is hope. And if someone tells you "you can't..." just find a way around the obstacle and keep on trying. Besides, if you graduate at an older age, you'll look more trustworthy and real-world-seasoned to your patients! You don't need our advice. You just need to want it bad enough. :)Hooray for you for thinking about it.Best,-Lynn Teague wrote:> Here is something interesting for you all.... We are our own best > advocates right?? Well... Try what I used for the computer stuff that I do.... I learned all this stuff AFTER RAI and severe hypo and even took the bulk of my certifications during my 'hypo' years.

Check out my certs page, broken down by years, of the certs I've passed.. www.toppers-place.com/certs.htm I'm gearing up now for the April 'Benchgames' to re-certify in those areas that I need to renew and see what else I want to go for (Benchgames are now an annual thing where you can take the exams for free instead of paying 30 to 100 bucks each for them.... I think it's a two week window, they've not announce this years's games yet. It's an international event, the goal is to find the country with the highest score. The US came in second or third last year... can't remember which) The CompTIA exams I had to pay for ... hundreds of bucks involved there, plus missing two days of work to go in to take them.....

I've been with Brainbench since they first started, back in the days when all the tests were free while they established themselves as a certification standard. Now I beta test exams for them, making sure that there are no errors or repeats or that they aren't too easy. I get free tests for my efforts, that's how I keep things going without money out of pocket... last years was the first annual Benchgames...

The tests are tough. You not only get a score for right or wrong, but for how long it takes you to answer. The correct answer that takes too long to enter scores only slightly better than a wrong answer.

My 'method' for learning while dealing with brain fartitis??

Triple everything.

Our brain classifies memories by how it is inputted. If we 'see' it, it's stored in one place, if we 'do' it, it's stored in another, if we 'hear' it, it's stored in another...

So read things aloud and write it down. What I did when I learned web design. I opened the book and read the page out loud and then typed it. I have the whole thousand some page book on my puter now cuz I typed every blasted word... It took me 6 weeks to do it... I got the book from the library and then had to renew it to finish.

Now... if my brain farts... it can take the other hallway to find that info that I lost.

As a group we have higher IQs than average.... but it's harder for us to remember what we learn, cuz of the brain fart things.... if we change how we input the stuff we are learning we increase what we can bring back, memory, learning, knowledge.

Concentrating on getting conversion levels up and consistent is also a HUGE thing.... conversion is how our bodies make active hormone. The active hormone that is involved with memory is T1....

T4 gets converted to T3, some of the T3 gets converted to T2 (metabolism), some of the T2 gets converted to T1 --- Brain function.

Oh... all of this thyroid stuff and medical and nutrition stuff that I've learned and become so opinionated about...all of that has been learned while dealing with brain farts too!!!! I've been getting certifications for some of that stuff too!

I read it aloud and type it.... and remember it... and if I forget it, I do it again... and again... till it sticks. It's harder for us to get it to stick... but once it's stuck we do better with the knowledge that we have than most 'normal' folks.

I'm gonna take that back... I think the info 'sticks' just fine.. our problem comes from retrieving what we've learned.. that's the brain chemistry stuff.... it's harder for us to recall it..... multiple input increases the number of pathways to retrieve that info.
