Guest guest
Here's the link to the website of The Centre for Abuse and Trauma Therapy (a Canadian organization), and at the bottom of the page is a link to a PDF file which is the transcript of a lecture given by Seonida s, M.Sc.Psych, entitled " Not All Parents Love Their Children " . (Note: parts of the transcription contains missing words or bad grammar, but the idea still gets across.) http://centrefortherapy.ca/effects-of-trauma-conference-2008 She speaks of what trauma bonding is, and how children who developed a trauma bond manifest that damage in adulthood. Surprise, surprise: Most of the symptoms and emotional injuries and behaviors we here at this group evidence and are dealing with are listed as being the results of trauma bonding due to parental abuse. Even though many of the examples s cites were examples of extremely severe criminal child abuse she points out that less inhuman but sub-standard parenting still results in trauma bonding when its chronic. My own theory is that the traits and behaviors of bpd pretty much guarantee that the children of undiagnosed, untreated bpd parents will wind up damaged with things like trauma-bonding. -Annie
