Guest guest
Dearest Harry, YOU UNSUBSCRIBE YOURSELF THIS WAY: " Yahoo! Groups " is set up so that you can easily and quickly leave a Group when you want to. You don't have to wait for a mod or owner to remove you. But you have to do this AT THE WEB SITE, you can't unsubscribe yourself by e-mail. Sign in to Yahoo! and go to the " My Groups " page: http://groups.yahoo.com/mygroups Near the upper left corner you'll see " View Groups " / " Edit My Groups " . Click on " Edit My Groups " Then on the line where this group is listed, select the box at the end of the line: " Leave Group " , then click " Save Changes. " Voila! You've left! -Annie > > Please remove me from the forum. Guest guest
Harry said he'd been doing that repeatedly for weeks and is still subscribed and receiving Group messages. That's because this Group is unmoderated, or virtually unmoderated. But anyone can leave the Group instantly by going to the website and following the instructions I posted. -Annie > > Or do this: > > > > > To unsub from this list, send a blank email to WTOAdultChildren1-unsubscribe > > > > >

That's not necessarily true. You have to have a yahoo account to do it from the website. Harry is posting from a yahoo address, which means he definitely has a yahoo account, so he presumably should be able to do it from the website, but people who subscribe by e-mail without signing up for a yahoo account can't. Everyone should be able to unsubscribe by e-mail though, as described. Doing so requires sending the message from an address that Yahoo has connected to the group. If Harry has tried that method, it may be that he's sending the message from the wrong address. The phrasing of his message saying that he's been requesting to be unsubscribed sounds like he thinks he's writing to some individual rather than trying to proper methods of unsubscribing though. Harry, if you've tried one or both of these methods and they don't work, let us know what you've done and whether you got anything in response to it and maybe someone can help you. -- Katrina
Guest guest
Sorry: what I meant is, that if you request to be unsubscribed by e-mail, it means you're waiting for the owner or moderator to remove you or delete you from the Group, but if you go to the website you can instantly and easily leave the Group yourself. No waiting. Since this Group is virtually un-moderated, I'm guessing that Harry's e-mail requests are probably accumulating in someone's inbox, un-read. But if Harry goes to the website via the link I posted, and follows the instructions I listed, he can unsubscribe himself in no time. (And, I originally posted these instructions back on January 28th, when Harry posted his first request to be unsubscribed.) -Annie > >Harry said he'd been doing that repeatedly for weeks and is > >still subscribed and receiving Group messages. > > > >That's because this Group is unmoderated, or virtually > >unmoderated. > >But anyone can leave the Group instantly by going to the > >website and following the instructions I posted. > > That's not necessarily true. Guest guest
Yeah, the unsub addy is different from the one we use to send group messages and it does it automatically. I moderate another group, and people come and go all the time. I have to approve their coming but not their going. Guest guest
Ah! OK, that's cool. Its good to know there is more than one way to do something. I learn something new every day! -Annie > > >Harry said he'd been doing that repeatedly for weeks and is > > >still subscribed and receiving Group messages. > > > > > >That's because this Group is unmoderated, or virtually > > >unmoderated. > > >But anyone can leave the Group instantly by going to the > > >website and following the instructions I posted. > > > > That's not necessarily true. The subscription and unsubscription is automated either way. There's no waiting for a moderator involved. The server gets the message, then it acts accordingly. Subscribing requires confirming the subscription but I don't think unsubscribing requires anything beyond sending a message from the correct address to the correct address. If you send a message to the group owner address, that sits and waits for someone to read it, but the subcription server doesn't work that way except in the case where someone tries to subscribe to a group that requires approval before people are allowed to join it. > Since this Group is virtually un-moderated, I'm guessing that > Harry's e-mail requests are probably accumulating in someone's > inbox, un-read. Not if he sent the messages to the correct address. I'm guessing that wasn't done though. Unsubscribing via the website does seem more likely to be the better choice in this case, but in general both ways work equally well and the e-mail method will work for people for whom the web interface isn't available. -- Katrina
Guest guest
If you would be so good as to log in to Yahoo, or click on one of the emails under a message on reply via web post, that will take you to the group. From either entry portal, click on My Groups, then edit my groups, scoll down to the group you wish to leave, and click on leave group. Then at the bottom click on save changes, and you are out. Hope you will find this helpful. > > UNSUBSCRIBE > > Who the fuck is moderating this board??? Guest guest
And considering the very polite manner in which he requested on the board to do something that it takes a small modicum of effort and savvy to do, one might be tempted to say, Go Unsubscribe yourself. But that would just be harsh, wouldn t it. Guest guest
It was terribly tempting, Doug, but seemed somewhat Nada like. :-0 Sent from my blueberry. > > And considering the very polite manner in which he requested on the > board to do something that it takes a small modicum of effort and savvy > to do, one might be tempted to say, > > Go Unsubscribe yourself. > > But that would just be harsh, wouldn t it. Guest guest
Yes, must be the KO thing in me too--I so wanted to bark at him, too. After all, he was being unaccountable and unreasonable with my WTO family! > > > > > And considering the very polite manner in which he requested on the > > board to do something that it takes a small modicum of effort and savvy > > to do, one might be tempted to say, > > > > Go Unsubscribe yourself. > > > > But that would just be harsh, wouldn t it. >
