Guest guest
Nada is going home tomorrow afternoon to die. She has internal bleeding and the doctor told me yesterday that it was so extensive nada lost half of her red blood cells. She was a hemoglobin of 5 and should have been as a woman a hemoglobin of 12 to 16 so in effect nada was almost dead then. The doctor there said it is either a very bad bleeding ulcer or it is cancer of the stomach. The hospice nurse thinks it is cancer of the stomach lining. The doctor my nada has said SHE suspects a tumor or a bleeding ulcer but it is inoperable anyway as nada could never make it through ANY surgery or chemo OR radiation therapy if it were cancer so she's not getting tests done to find out what it is exactly. She is also in congestive heart failure and can't walk or stand without assistance and a walker. She is VERY happy to be going home to die and the hospital bed and everything she needs will be in place tomorrow. She will get a hospice nurse in there 2 hours a day in the morning and a home health aide two hours from 4:30 to 6:30 and other than that will be on her own the rest of the time. I am glad this is over for the most part except for whether or not nada will adjust to not being in control of much of anything any more but seems to be letting go of control actually and letting ME make all the decisions for her which is NOT nada. I think she is too weak to do any of this herself and fight it anymore.
Guest guest
What an anguishing ordeal, for all involved. I think that's very compassionate of you to let your nada have her own way and go home to die, as she requested. It sounds like she will be taken care of in her home the way she wanted, and it won't be for very long. I hope she remains pain-free, at least. Be sure to take care of yourself; even with a nada, going through her end-of-life process can be a well of pain and anxiety for a KO. Be well. - Annie > > Nada is going home tomorrow afternoon to die. She has internal bleeding and the doctor told me yesterday that it was so extensive nada lost half of her red blood cells. Guest guest
Libra, so it sounds like Hospice is still involved. Just at home instead of the Hospice House or whatever yours is called. I want to offer my support to you as you experience the end of your nada's life. I hope she passes peacefully. And yes, she is just too weak to give you a bad time. Hope it stays that way! Guest guest
Hugs sweetie, I'm so sorry. It seems these ornery old women have a hard time letting go. Do some extra self care this week, lots of it. On Tue, Mar 1, 2011 at 1:52 PM, CA Annie wrote: > > > Libra, so it sounds like Hospice is still involved. Guest guest
Yes, ornery women do have a hard time letting go. I just got a heads up call from the Hospice nurse who says my nada no longer qualifies for Hospice care. She is no longing dying. This is the 2nd time! Cat DNA! I swear. > > > > > > Nada is going home tomorrow afternoon to die. She has internal bleeding > > and the doctor told me yesterday that it was so extensive nada lost half of > > her red blood cells.
