Guest guest
Ever notice how the first thing is not the main thing? Maybe not even the second thing. What I mean to say is that we can have an exagerated emotional reaction to a mundane, normal event. Things seem way out of proportion. We may find outselves later wondering " What the hell was that about? " We have to dig really deep at times to sort these reactions out. Ever played 7 levels of separation? Used to be played with Bacon. The idea was within 7 levels you could connect Bacon to any actor in Hollywood. and Tom Hanks Apollo 13 Tom and Meg Sleepless in Seattle Meg and Crystal When Harry Met Sally and Stern City Slickers and Joe Pesci Home Alone Joe and De Niro Casino and Al Pacino The Godfather part 2 And you have Bacon connected to Al Pacino. So think about how that works in us. Innocent remark...way overblown reaction............so what was it that connected back to in our past. Find the link, and we start to heal it. Guest guest
Wow. How true. Great insight here--to follow the " points " back to the original abuse/issue/trauma. Hypnosis (under the guidance of a trained T, of course) helped me a lot with this one. Sometimes, I have to quiet my brain down completely and ask my intellect (and all of those defenses meant to bury and hide the original trauma) to hush and let the " crazy " talk. In other words . . . if I'm feeling traumatized and don't know why, I let the " crazy " talk and get something like: I just saw strawberry ice cream and she may kill me. If I " shush " all of the reasons that's stupid and fight the impulse to argue with logic, the original trauma usually comes up. Or the link closer to the original trauma, anyway. Funny enoug, once I remember the original trauma, my overblown reaction doesn't sound crazy at all. It starts to make complete sense. Did that make any sense at all? Blessings and thanks for the post! > > > Ever notice how the first thing is not the main thing? Maybe not even > the second thing.
