Guest guest
Thanks (unknown) Hello and Family!! Just wanted to say welcome. Janay Rasha's Mom (15 months) > > Hello, > > My name is and my 12 week old daughter Emma has just been positively diagnosised with CHARGE Syndrome. I'm not sure how the chat thing works so please bear with me until I get used to this. I was wondering if anyone has had trouble getting their child to take a bottle. Emma takes one but only takes a half of ounce to one ounce every four hours. If you have any tricks can you please let me know. I look forward to talking to everyone. > > (mother of Emma) > > > Moser > msmollybear@... > Why Wait? Move to EarthLink. > >
Guest guest
Hi Liz, I don't know if you have considered Seattle Children's Hospital, but we took our daughter there after the doctors in Portland had given up on her. We heard through the grapevine years later that the doctors in Portland never expected her to survive so they persisted in doing 'experimental' things with her. How's that for negative vibes going right to her during surgery? After 11- 15 mis-diagnoses, we took her to Seattle Chlldren's where they saved her life. Whenever I pass Seattle Children's, I get the most amazing feeling of gratitude. Sending all positive thoughts, best wishes and love, (unknown) Hello all I was wondering if any of the families live in San , Texas or know anything regarding the medical care in that city? just curious. I am just considering the posibilities in other states. Liz
Guest guest
Hi Liz, I will second 's support of Children's Hospital in Seattle. Evan has seen many doctors and surgeons there, and there is only one that I have anything negative to say about (it's not a competency issue, more of a personality clash). (mom to Evan 16 months, just discharged yesterday after cleft palate surgery at Children's last Thursday) Keedy wrote: Hi Liz, I don't know if you have considered Seattle Children's Hospital, but we took our daughter there after the doctors in Portland had given up on her. Guest guest
First, education, whether formal (such as college classes) or in the form of continuing education classes, cannot be overemphasized. The educated EMT understands not just how to do something, but WHY things are done. Additionally, good oral and written communications skills (including proper grammar, spelling, and pronunciations) can help in obtaining a patient history and in presenting themselves professionally to other members of the public and the healthcare community. Additionally, the case studies and discussions on some of the EMS-related groups on Yahoo Groups are fantastic. You are a member of the Paramedicine and EKG_Club groups on Yahoo Groups, right? What other internet resources do you use to further your EMS knowledge? Believe it or not, Wikipedia has some fantastic medical references. Further, you can learn a ton from reading. What's in your medical library? You do have a medical library that consists of something more than just your EMT textbook, right? I try to look up drugs and diseases when I'm unfamiliar with them. Your ER physicians and medical director can be great resources, if you show enough interest. I've experienced the same problems with getting calls at a slow station. You have to be resourceful in finding other opportunities, whether it's doing standbys at public events (athletic events, concerts, etc.) or in finding other agencies to ride along with. Some of my best experiences have come from finding ride-along opportunities when I've been visiting other cities. (It's really amazing how many EMS and Fire Departments like to " show off " their operations to other public safety providers.) I hope I've been of some help. -Wes Ogilvie, MPA, JD, EMT Attorney at Law/Emergency Medical Technician/Paramedic Student Austin, Texas (unknown) I am a New York State Emergency Medical Techition I am trying to learn how to approach patients, scenes, and large crowds etc etc the apporiate way to treat my patient or patients and be able to do my job right and to the best of my training, I have not been an EMT-Basic long enough to have gotten all of the experience when I am at the base I do not get hardly no calls and im fit to be tide I love the thought of helping other people and doing this job but how do I get better cause im a newbie probie or whatever they call new EMTS and I truely wanna make it please any help we be greatly appreciate God Bless and stay safe ________________________________________________________________________ AOL now offers free email to everyone. Guest guest
I am a 'green' medic and I volunteer for my local EMS which is strictly EMS. I have learned a great deal from the other EMTs as well as the other paramedic. So any volunteer work is a great experience as well as the experience you can get on a paid service. I hope things work well for you as it has for me. Steve McCormick wrote: Hello New York, Try volunteering at a local ER or ED. You can gain experience and learn under controlled conditions. Steve Mc.
