I'm running the LA Marathon tomorrow. I am doing it for me. I think I have lost

about 15lbs in the whole process but I haven't weighed in since it derails my

focus. But none of my clothes fit (I can actually slide my pants off without

unbuttoning or unzipping).

I feel like my whole life I have been afraid of living up to my potential, and

afraid of succeeding, always sabotaging myself because I'd been brought up by a

nada who taught me that I didn't deserve better or that I could never be more

than she was. Tomorrow, I prove to myself that I can do whatever I want; that I

can succeed at whatever I want; and no " distance " , whether real or imagined, can

hold me back from living my life the way I want and having the life I want.

Hmmm, maybe it wasn't off topic.

Anyways, the cool thing is that I get a medal at the end. It's like getting a

medal for conquering the nada in my head.

Good luck, !

I want to run the Chicago Marathon in 2012, for similar reasons. Plus I want

that medal at the end, too!

You go, girl :)

Good luck ! I'm really happy for you to be doing something you really

want to do, and really proud of you for working so hard for this! And

congrats on the weight loss too, I am working on that now myself. I went

for a long walk yesterday, and it was the first walk in YEARS that didn't

leave me with pelvic pain! It's so nice to feel good now, no excuse not to

get more exercise ;-)

Good luck to you! I really hope you enjoy this experience. You CAN do

this! You rock =)

Good luck! I hope you run strong!

I want to run a marathon one day, right now I'm working towards a 5k. I struggle

with succeeding as well, and tend to self sabatoge.

You can do it!

YAY!!! Congrats!!!!!

If you want, we could probably modify the medal to say something like " Nada

Free since 2010 " on the back :) That'd be cool. Paint, or take to a trophy

shop, or just paste a piece of paper over it. (ha, can you tell I work in

advertising and teach kids art?)

HUGS so proud

It's okay. It was kind of like nada had summoned a storm to defeat me. But I

won! I am officially a marathon runner!

I got a medal and everything! 5:01:30. Not as well as I had hoped to do, but

then again, I wasn't planning on running in a hurricane.

Yay!

WAY TO GO AMANDA!!!!!!!! I'm so proud of you!!! =D That's awesome, I'm so

glad you were able to do this for yourself. I bet you're tired now!

Hopefully not too sore. But wow, that just simply rocks!

I liked Girlscout's idea about putting something on the back of the medal

that says " nada free since <date> " lol. Totally up to you of course, but

I'm so happy for you that you could do this!

Now, get some rest and pamper yourself a bit, you TOTALLY deserve it after

running in a hurricane! hehe.

You are my new hero! Not just for running a marathon, but for running it through

the worst rain I've seen in LA for years!

Now go get dry and warm and eat some carbs :)
