Guest guest
That is too funny (I love your email address by the way!). I honestly think if we can't turn it into something to laugh at sometimes or something more positive, we'd all be as crazy as they are. I think it has finally clicked with me somewhere that I truly want to replace the negative memories with positive ones. I feel like if I can just focus on doing my best to turn the situation around into something good, I'll finally be able to move past it, you know? My nada was a hermit and a waif. She was too scared to leave the house, too scared to drive, too scared to travel. So she sat home all day and night wallowing in issue after issue after hurtful thing after depression. It got.so.old. trying to deal with her. As a child, you have no say at all in anything, but as an adult, we have to grab hold of what we can and do what's best for us. Re: I swear I never learn... My FOO does that too! Like they get together and wallow in a massive pity party! I generally provide the play-by-play via text messages to my husband (whom I rarely subject to my FOO, since I actually love him and care about his feelings, LOL) and he keeps score of who's suffering the most. Then when I get home, he tells me who wins the gold, silver and bronze medal for Worst Possible Fate EVER. I actually told my FOO at one of our last " get-togethers " that there wasn't a finite amount of suffering in the world that they needed to compete over. There's plenty to go around!
