Guest guest
Hi Just telling my auntie and nan about this group - they want me to delete things because nada always ALWAYS finds everything out, as in they're pretty sure she had a Private Investigator on my sister when she cut her off. How do i delete my posts? or just some info that is identifiable, like that story about my little brother is pretty much definitely our family? Guest guest
This is why it's advisable to join this group under a pseudonym. Many people are writing under their pseudonym. Some are making posts under their real names. The best way to go about this is to create a yahoo account, using a fake name or some other non-identifiable address. For example, instead of using a Jane.@... account, use something like AprilShowersMayFlowers@.... Or mydogisawesome1234@.... Does this make sense? If you're concerned, and if you joined using your primary yahoo account, you can always re-join using a new account and begin from there. I don't know if anybody's nada or fada ever found this group, but this precaution helps protect against that instance. Hope it helps Holly On Wed, May 4, 2011 at 3:50 AM, janefrankiehw wrote: > > > Hi > Just telling my auntie and nan about this group - they want me to delete > things because nada always ALWAYS finds everything out, as in they're pretty > sure she had a Private Investigator on my sister when she cut her off. Guest guest
Hi, Yes, you can delete your own posts at the Group site. I don't know if you can do that if you receive posts by e-mail, but if you go to the Yahoo! Group site for this group and go to Messages, if you bring up your posts individually you have a " delete " option up near the top left hand corner of each post. However if some other member has included your post in their reply, your name will appear in their post. And I agree that its much safer to create a new, anonymous ID for yourself and post here using that, and then be careful to not post identifiers such as your actual location, profession or names of family members. -Annie
Guest guest
I wouldn't bet that the story with your little brother is completely unique to your family. For example, there is another on this site who had almost the exact same incident happen to her this Christmas that happened to me. In fact, at one point, someone answered a post of mine thinking I was her because we had both written posts about our separate incidents, which only had extremely minor details different. Many of us have read the stories of fellow KOs on here and been agog at how amazingly similar their stories are to ours. So you can change to a pseudonym and use fake names for your family members and then I wouldn't worry about people being able to identify you from your stories. I swear there are a couple of people on here that my family could mistake me for and vice versa. (In fact occasionally I read the other 's posts and check to make sure they are indeed hers and not something I wrote. That's how eerily similar they are.) Cheers to anonymity! > > Hi > Just telling my auntie and nan about this group - they want me to delete things because nada always ALWAYS finds everything out, as in they're pretty sure she had a Private Investigator on my sister when she cut her off. Guest guest
I just make sure to leave out enough details that a hostile couldn't be sure it was me, but the friendlies can get the salient details. For example, I post that I have a son, but never use his name. And I don't give other identifying details - like what my job is or that kind of thing. None of those little things taken separately would give me away, but taken together they could. And since my BPD mother probably thinks I'm the one with BPD and might join for support, it's possible she could be on here for help in " dealing " with me. >;p Of course, one thing to remember is that BPDs have such a knack for rewriting history and casting themselves as the victim, your mother probably wouldn't recognize you from your stories, even if you quoted her verbatim AND used her name. > > > > Hi > > Just telling my auntie and nan about this group - they want me to delete things because nada always ALWAYS finds everything out, as in they're pretty sure she had a Private Investigator on my sister when she cut her off. Guest guest
True, they probably wouldn't recognize themselves on here at all! Haha! > > > > > > Hi > > > Just telling my auntie and nan about this group - they want me to delete things because nada always ALWAYS finds everything out, as in they're pretty sure she had a Private Investigator on my sister when she cut her off. Guest guest
haha so true. Thanks guys. I think i told my auntie my pseudonym, my names not really Jane, so careless, i got paranoid later that she would look too, never mind my mother. The " loyalties " in the family can shift so it's a bit of a worry. Maybe i'll come back in a while as someone else. Thanks! > > > > > > > > Hi > > > > Just telling my auntie and nan about this group - they want me to delete things because nada always ALWAYS finds everything out, as in they're pretty sure she had a Private Investigator on my sister when she cut her off.
