Guest guest
Sure do remember Shari and Lamb Chop. ) Can't remember one with a clown though...not a particular clown anyway. Now that I'm grown and have read King, I always think of the evil clown Pennyworth when someone says clown. <shiver> Re: Sad day in Kidville I remember watching Mr. with my kids. It's a very sad day. Now there's someone who really made a difference didn't he? I remember Romper Room from my childhood and also Ding Dong School, which may have been a local thing. Anybody remember Shari and her puppets? I had a set of those puppets and I just loved Lamp Chop

Guest guest
I grew up south of Chicago and we had Captain Kangaroo and Bozo. I loved Bozo and I when I got to go see the show as a chaperone when my daughter was in third grade I think I was more excited than the kids were! Cookie was even there. I remember Romper Room, but I think my sister, a few years younger than me, watched it more than I did. I do remember those big upside down cup things attached with a string that were for walking on, and I remember really wanting some of those. I also liked watching Ray Raynor (sp?) and Garfield Goose. Does anybody remember them? I was really excited this year when WGN played Suzy Snowflake and Hardrock, Coco, and Joe at Christmastime. Guest guest
, I doubt that you are the oldest. Unfortunately I lived in a smaller town and we only had one station when I was young, so I don't remember as many as everyone else. Or at least don't remember watching them as much. I remember Shari from when she was on Ed Sullivan. I also remember Clarabell, was she on Howdy-Doody? The name Princess Summer-Fall-Winter-Spring sounds familiar, but not sure. , You'll love this quote from my mom. My older sister asked her one day, " Mom, what did you do when you were a kid and there wasn't any TV. " Mom just looked at her and said, " Niki, what did you do when you were a kid and there wasn't any TV. " We didn't get a TV until I was about 3 or 4. So Niki would have been in 2nd or 3rd grade by then. I always laugh when I remember that question and Mom still remembers that conversation. Margaret >>> " njburk@... Guest guest
Yep, he sure did a lot for kids. I didn't watch him much as a kid, but my kids watch him now. Did you ever go to Idlewild park in Ligonier? It's an amusement park about a half hour from here, near where Mr. was born (in Latrobe, PA). They have a whole section devoted to him, where you ride a trolley around in the Neighborhood of Make Believe. They have life-sized mechanical puppets. My kids love it. I remember watching Romper Room and Captain Kangaroo. I didn't care for Shari and the puppets. Pattie Jantranscribes wrote: > I remember watching Mr. with my kids. It's a very sad day. Guest guest
Our TV station here in PA shows Suzy Snowflake, Hard Rock, Coco and Joe, and Frosty every Christmas season. They've had so many requests that they now put the schedule of when they will be aired on their Web site, and they put them on a special. You could even see them on their web site. Guest guest
Wow.. there's a place I haven't heard in years! Yes, I was born and raised in stown, PA and remember going to Idlewild Park as a kid, but that was before Mr. came on the scene. My mother and sister still live in stown, and I seem to recall my mother telling me about the Mr. area there. Jan jantranscribes@... " Typing is my life. Guest guest
Anyone from New England remember Big Brother Bob Emery? Guest guest
Ahh.. I remember Suzy Snowflake and Hardrock and Coco and Joe.. awwww At one point my sister (who is a children's librarian) gave me the web address several Christmases ago for the local (to stown) TV station that was playing those and you could watch them from the web. I was shocked when she did that because my sister, who is older, absolutely hates computers and anything to do with them, even though she is required to know about them for her job. She definitely prefers books. Jan jantranscribes@... " Typing is my life. " " Whoever signs the paycheck makes the rules. Guest guest
Depends on how old you are. If you're closing in on geezerhood (as am I), it could be Winky Dink and You. Jack Barry and the mystery of the day, in which you had to draw a picture to help Winky Dink out of a tight spot. My mama was too tight with $$ to let me blow $1 on the kit, so I had to pretend to draw.
