How To Set Up a Yahoo Alias

The first step is to think of a username for yourself that does not contain any

personally-identifying information.

Then, you can use that to set up an email account for yourself. (Actually, any

email account that no one else knows about will do. I think it just saves you

the trouble of coming up with two different names.) You can use any e-mail

provider: yahoo, google, hotmail, etc.

The third step is to click the " My Account " link on your Yahoo!Groups page (it's

in the very top left corner). From MyAccount, go to Account Information. Add

your new email address under " Profile Information. " Then scroll down to " Account

Settings " and click " Manage your Yahoo! aliases. " You can then set up an alias

for yourself using your new non-identifying username.

After you have done that, come back to this board, and click " Edit Membership "

right above the blue bar with the name of the board. You will be able to select

which alias and email address you want to show.

Hope that helps! I only figured out all this in the past year or so; I posted

here for years using a name and email address that anybody who knew me would

have recognized. I like anonymity a lot better!

Thank you.  Thank you.  Thank you.  I really appreciate the step-by-step

instructions.

I will do it.

Cheers,

Thanks for this, Sveta, it's very helpful. I didn't even know that existed until

now. >.<

Would it be possible to have this uploaded to the " Files " section as a document

so newbies (and oldies, lol) can use it for reference?

I know Yahoo! Mail will probably change some over time but at least this would

give people a general idea. Just a thought. :)
