Guest guest
400 mg's of a magnesium complex. (350 mg/oxide, 40 mg/citrate, 10 mg aspartate). We also do epsom foot baths.I should note that he's also given vitamin d and b6 with the magnesium, but the mag was started first and the d and B6 added one at a time later. He takes this in the morning. He can't sustain w/o it....after a couple days without, he'll get sensitive to noise/crowds etc and becomes easily agitated, argumentative, and loses emotional lability all over again. It's Swanson's brand and does it contain magnesium stearate but it's one of those times I pick my battles. We also do zinc at night. hope this helps,Tammy To: mb12valtrex Sent: Wednesday, January 4, 2012 8:54 AM Subject: Re: Re : Re : advice Hi Tammy, could you share what type and dosage of magnisum helped with noise sensitivity, our son has been on mag for years and his noise sensitivity is still pretty severe at time thank you mary I second that. Guest guest
HiI am going to sound like a rep for Thorne vitamins - but I am not. We have taken them for years off a recommend from our naturopath. All vitamins are not created equal. My son used to have nails that would peel - we are dairy free - and I was giving him a calcium supplement at the time. I switched to Thorne calcium and now his nails do not peel. Bear in mind though that we also began a traditional Chinese Medicine protocol. So it could be the herbs as well - or both. But bottom line, his nails are solid now and do not peel. I also take Thorne myself - and when I've run out and had to fall back on vitamins from Whole Foods even - I notice that I have digestion issues because the vitamins are hard to digest. With Thorne I rarely have this (only on the multivitamin). But my son's vitamins are pretty much all Thorne. They are all caps and I open the large caps and transfer to the smallest caps (gelatin caps by Now Foods). You can get THorne from a naturopath or Needs. So it's completely possible to be taking a proper vitamin and not get results if the quality is not good enough to be integrated into the body. Thorne does not contain magnesium stearate. We take the calcium, mangesium, quercenase, vitamin C, and others. Our journey is healing food allergy and asthma. Good luck. Hope this helps. There is a community of the spirit. Join it, and feel the delight of walking in the noisy street, and being the noise.---Rumi To: "mb12valtrex " <mb12valtrex > Sent: Wednesday, January 4, 2012 8:50 AM Subject: Re: Re : Re : advice 400 mg's of a magnesium complex. Guest guest
what side effects do people see with mag sterate? I want to look out for it. Re: Re : Re : advice I keep hearing all these great experiences that other people have with Thorne and I'm kind of green with envy. My kids do horribly on many of the Thorne products (albeit, they were the ones that contained leucine as a filler). We've switched away from Thorne products now. My kids seem to do best on AOR, Labs, or Now Foods products -- although I totally get why some people need to stay away from mag stearate -- but the leucine in Thorne really bothers my kids and I don't see any side effects from the mag stearate. We're trying to work around our leucine problem now but when they had Thorne supps that had leucine -- holy moley...those were some WICKED meltdowns...die-off to the nth power that couldn't be mopped up with mountains of activated charcoal. Guest guest
In the original post I see mom posting that child is on maintenance flagyl? Our family used flagyl three times while battling giardia and it made us very, very, very sick. It is a big stressor on the body- digestive system, kidneys, liver, spleen. Crying a lot can be a sign of spleen problems. I would see if there is any way to back off of that medication and head towards herbals. Herbals are very effective. If not, I would increase water- possibly with electrolyte mix (may also help with headaches that are commoon with flagyl) and add in milk thistle to help clean the eliminative organs. Also, flagyl will destroy the good bacteria in the digestive system also, which can cause a lot of stomach pain/bloating/indigestion. So if not already, gradually increase probiotics. VSL#3 is a good prescription one. Supporting any probiotic with glutamine powder with FOS (prebiotic sugar) can help with healing the gut from infection and inflammation. http://www.pcflabs.com/store/bioglut.html We healed duodenal ulcers in our daughter with this powder, probiotics, low oxalate, low salicylate, sugar free, GFCF diets, and several months of an acid reducing medication (prevacid). If I had it all to do over again, I would have addressed our bacterial and other parasite issues with herbs and stayed away from the medications, which delayed the process. If he also wakes at night crying, look into a low salicylate diet. Good good luck > >> > >> > >> > >>>Yes. > >>> > >>> > >>> > >>>________________________________ > >>> De : l h > >>>À : mb12valtrex > >>>Envoyé le : Mercredi 4 Janvier 2012 0h40 > >>>Objet : RE: advice > >>> > >>> > >>> > >>>is he gluten casein free? Guest guest
Thanks for the reminders. I didn't know about strep at that time and my biggest worry with VSL was the milk. I recall our doctor saying something about it being grown in dairy but being 'milk free' as a product, which seemed nonsensical to me. But our insurance covered it and our pockets were lean. This was before I discovered Inner Eco Coconut Kefir. It is interesting to know what I know now and get your reminder because at the time Mia was VERY sensitive to viruses, and any viral infection would lead to up to 3 months of regressions (more abrupt meltdowns, peripheral neuropathy, intense anger, increased absence seizures after meltdowns, increased tactile sensitivity, loss of character recognition). I now guess the strep in the VSL heightened this? Casein for us is a pretty predictable and consistent reaction- crying more with eyes squeezed shut, sensory seeking, difficulty sleeping, tired, bowel problems. She did not have this with the VSL. I do recall hearing that VSL supports elimination of oxalates? Oxalates at that time were very big for us. Oh, lastly, I was NOT suggesting VSL for parasites or clostridia, just as a probiotic to help recover from antibiotics. I picked it because someone on maintenance Flagyl is likely more comfortable with prescriptions? We use the Inner Eco which I mentioned above. We also are starting to culture vegetables and coconut milk. I recommended looking into herbals for parasites because our experience is that Flagyl is a really damaging prescription antibiotic that on its own can cause significant physical pain. For us it was also very ineffective. We have been really happy with Humaworm. And have heard good things about many herbal regimens. > > VSL3 has strep in them I wouldn't recommend them, as well as they have dairy, none of those will address parasites or clostridia either which is what flagyl is for > >

Guest guest
Fyi, one of our DANs says that VSL#3 has some research behind to act against clostridia and I know that it and flagyl were our saving grace for clostrida for both of my kids. We started first with the herbals and homeopathic route (which I would love to have stuck with) and they both deteriorated alot. It was the flagyl/VSL3 combo that finally took care of it. My son, especially, was absolutely miserable (behavior, pain, diarreah) for a good part of this past year (not to mention I was totally miserable;). Now he is doing great for the past 2 months since stopping flagyl (hopefully it wont rear its ugly head again)....anyway, if the herbals/homeopathic stuff worked for my kids i would have totally gone that route bc i am an organic mamma but i am glad we finally tried the prescripts including flagyl.....my pale, weak, formerly aggressive, attention seeking son who was pooping all over the place and not talking/communicating well this summer has finally gained a couple pounds, has "normalish" stool, is happy, well behaved, plays well with his sister, and is talking more typically every day. Guest guest
Wow, that is fabulous. I am so glad that it worked for you all and I will now know for sure that our experience isn't shared by all. I try to remind myself regularly that things that didn't work for us may be miracles for another body. The flagyl was a particularly bad memory for us so it is one I have a hard time accepting as a good possibility. But now I will. ! What dosage were you on for both, for what weight? I would love to compare to ours and get a better idea of what thresholds might be. Thanks, > > Fyi, one of our DANs says that VSL#3 has some research behind to act against clostridia and I know that it and flagyl were our saving grace for clostrida for both of my kids. Guest guest
Christel, I just wrote a note to Meghan and share the same sentiments with you. I stand corrected. Could you share what dosage you were using per weight? I am trying to compare and see if we were on a comparatively large dose. Ours was in a liquid form from a Children's hospital, so I really wonder what else was in it since you relate yours is compounded. I don't expect we'll do flagyl again, but I do want to understand it better so that I am not sharing bad information. Many thanks, > > b6 will also help reduce oxylates, we have been on flagyl long term for months like 4 now and just got a beautiful OATS test back, best in years! we have a cronic case of lymne and its one of the only things to work sadly! its compounded and perhaps that changes things but our son has done fabo on it >
