Guest guest
Hi ,I finally tracked down my son's last dose of flagyl (500mg/5ml take 2.5ml 3 times per day). When I reconfirmed with the pharmacist it was the highest recommended dosage for their weights. Scary but the problem was at the lower doses it kept coming right back and seemed to be worse each time so i was afraid that we were just making the bugs stronger. I was also consoled by the fact that they (esp. my son) seemed to feel physically better right away when starting flagyl (ie there was no real "die off" negative type reactions). Also, my husband, who has gut issues, has always used flagyl and been fine. All the prescripts we get are GFCF or SCD with no colors and sometimes organic stevia. If it is a new drug/supp, I always start first at about 1/4 of the recommended dose to see how they will do and go up every 2 days if they are tolerating it. If you had such a bad experience with flagyl the first time, i am not sure i would try it again. Go with your gut. For example, I will definitely never try Enhansa again with my daughter since she had such a bad reaction.cheers, To: mb12valtrex Sent: Friday, January 6, 2012 10:22 AM Subject: Re: Re : Re : advice Wow, that is fabulous. I am so glad that it worked for you all and I will now know for sure that our experience isn't shared by all. I try to remind myself regularly that things that didn't work for us may be miracles for another body. The flagyl was a particularly bad memory for us so it is one I have a hard time accepting as a good possibility. But now I will. ! What dosage were you on for both, for what weight? I would love to compare to ours and get a better idea of what thresholds might be. Thanks, > > Fyi, one of our DANs says that VSL#3 has some research behind to act against clostridia and I know that it and flagyl were our saving grace for clostrida for both of my kids. Â Now he is doing great for the past 2 months since stopping flagyl (hopefully it wont rear its ugly head again)....anyway, if the herbals/homeopathic stuff worked for my kids i would have totally gone that route bc i am an organic mamma but i am glad we finally tried the prescripts including flagyl.....my pale, weak, formerly aggressive, attention seeking son who was pooping all over the place and not talking/communicating well this summer has > finally gained a couple pounds, has "normalish" stool, is happy, well behaved, plays well with his sister, and is talking more typically every day. Guest guest
Sorry, I hate to beat the Lyme drum, but Flagyl is used as a cyst buster in Lyme treatment, and can cause some serious die off. Just a thought. > > > > Fyi, one of our DANs says that VSL#3 has some research behind to act against clostridia and I know that it and flagyl were our saving grace for clostrida for both of my kids.  We started first with the herbals and homeopathic route (which I would love to have stuck with) and they both deteriorated alot. Guest guest
, Thanks so much for tracking that down. Now as soon as we unpack our medical records box (!) I can compare. But just understanding it was high dose is helpful and interesting. I was pregnant so couldn't take a high dose. So I went through 3 rounds, 2 while pregnant, one after. All at a 'low' dose comparatively. Mia and Ellie also did very poorly on it, but I don't recall what their doses were. Time to find that box. , Please beat the Lyme drum! We hope to go through the lyme testing soon. I consider myself to have a very high probability of Lyme. I was raised in MD, and had literally, I don't know, at least 15 tick bites a year. I remember twice in my life being bit by a swarm of tiny deer ticks. Once I recall getting a round ring on my leg. Another time I remember that a tick was on my scalp so long that it became engorged, like the big ones you see on dogs! I look back at all of this and it just seems insane that no one looked into lyme. After the round ring experience I developed allergies (milk, mold), gained weight, and developed chronically swollen lymphnodes. I also went through intervals of extreme fatigue (sleeping 15 hours a day, through dinner many nights) and had a very weak immune system. I am not sure one could come up with many more suggestions of lyme. :) THANKS for the reminder. Now that I have experienced die off from other things, and reading your note, I can remember back to the feeling while on Flagyl and really wonder if that was going on. So with our move it will likely be 3 more months before we really start with a doctor locally. I am looking into doing herbal support in the meanwhile, could you offer any other resources to look into, support to start, etc? Apologies, I know that is an ENORMOUS question. But if you have any highlights to share, I'd love them. Guest guest
, I just read through the whole post again and just want to say HOORAY to you and your son for the turn around!!!! ......my pale, weak, formerly aggressive, attention seeking son who was pooping all over the place and not talking/communicating > > well this summer has > > > finally gained a couple pounds, has " normalish " stool, is happy, well behaved, plays well with his sister, and is talking more typically every day.   > > > > > >
Guest guest
, I have always enjoyed reading your writings of bio-med experience on this board- You are very intelligent, and write so well! Your parasite journey was particularly fascinating (LOL) and when you said you saw spirochetes under the microscope, I thought Lyme for you back then- There are different protocols for Lyme and co-infections, and a strong train of thought is to treat the parasites first, which you have worked hard through- My daughter (6) and I are both being treated for Lyme- Currently using a combination of antibiotics and herbs, and trying to build our immune systems- We see an LLMD, and also incorporate some alternative testing at times. It is much like/the same as bio-med done here-looking at the whole body to heal, with the exception of trying to eradicate these very nasty bacterial infections that run deep- When you get to looking further into it on your journey, I would love to chat if you are interested- I am no self proclaimed expert, just a information junkie like the rest of us here, trying to heal our family/children. And now myself, which was the biggest surprise of all. xxoo > > > > > > > > Fyi, one of our DANs says that VSL#3 has some research behind to act against clostridia and I know that it and flagyl were our saving grace for clostrida for both of my kids.  We started first with the herbals and homeopathic route (which I would love to have stuck with) and they both deteriorated alot. Guest guest
, Thanks so much. Yes, hasn't that been the biggest surprise, that healing our children leads to healing ourselves! Right now we are focusing on supporting the immune system, while continually in intervals hitting the parasites. So at least as you are relating, we're headed in the right direction. Now onto the Lyme piece. I really have been putting off learning more. So again, thanks for this reminder!! Klinghardt's KPU/HPU understanding is all about Lyme and mold becoming a superbug that represses the immune system by tricking the body into thinking it has enough zinc, so that it expels all of its zinc. The zincless body then has little immune response to the bacteria, viruses, and parasites. Also, the zincless body holds onto other metals (mercury, aluminum, lead), because zinc is needed in so many enzyme cycles (including the one that produces the hem in hemaglobin, and the one that produces glutathione!!). That is about the extent of my understanding, besides believing I know what it looks like under the microscope :). Smiles to you and if I can stay on track through our move, I'll learn more and would love to ask questions/share ideas. Oh- one last note- Humaworm makes an herbal Lyme treatment. Under 'other products' if I remember correctly on their website. I haven't looked into it yet to see what herbs are listed. I am guessing my research will be into all treatments and so I'll have a better gauge to measure individual products by eventually. > > , > I have always enjoyed reading your writings of bio-med experience on this board- > You are very intelligent, and write so well! > > Your parasite journey was particularly fascinating (LOL) and when you said you saw spirochetes under the microscope, I thought Lyme for you back then- > There are different protocols for Lyme and co-infections, and a strong train of thought is to treat the parasites first, which you have worked hard through- > My daughter (6) and I are both being treated for Lyme- > Currently using a combination of antibiotics and herbs, and trying to build our immune systems- We see an LLMD, and also incorporate some alternative testing at times. > > It is much like/the same as bio-med done here-looking at the whole body to heal, with the exception of trying to eradicate these very nasty bacterial infections that run deep- > When you get to looking further into it on your journey, I would love to chat if you are interested- I am no self proclaimed expert, just a information junkie like the rest of us here, trying to heal our family/children. Guest guest
If you want herbals to treat lyme, consider the lyme tea. You can a find a link to purchase if you google lyme tea and the better health guy. I would go for the one with artemisiae as the asd families have worms. > > > > , > > I have always enjoyed reading your writings of bio-med experience on this board- > > You are very intelligent, and write so well! > > > > Your parasite journey was particularly fascinating (LOL) and when you said you saw spirochetes under the microscope, I thought Lyme for you back then- > > There are different protocols for Lyme and co-infections, and a strong train of thought is to treat the parasites first, which you have worked hard through- > > My daughter (6) and I are both being treated for Lyme- > > Currently using a combination of antibiotics and herbs, and trying to build our immune systems- We see an LLMD, and also incorporate some alternative testing at times. > > > > It is much like/the same as bio-med done here-looking at the whole body to heal, with the exception of trying to eradicate these very nasty bacterial infections that run deep- > > When you get to looking further into it on your journey, I would love to chat if you are interested- I am no self proclaimed expert, just a information junkie like the rest of us here, trying to heal our family/children.
