Guest guest
Cathy:I desperately wish the New Zealand story were true. If I could get e-mail ID of the NZ guys then I would write to them. I am myself a great fan of vitamin C. You will not believe to what extent I go for C. But I must cut my story short here.My faith is being shaken by the Trying_Low_Oxalate yahoo group. The moderator there claims that C degrades into oxalates ---which is true---but I have my counter. But first what she says. She says that oxalates as kidney stones is a very late effect. Before that the oxalates will be deposited in the brain and give us mental symptoms. This is terrible. My counter argument is that body takes care of this route of oxalates. Our cells generate glutathione and that recycles the C. Therefore C is saved from degrading/metabolizing into oxalates. The reason why I wish to contact the NZ family is that a direct contact with them will boost my faith in C and help me overridethis oxalate nonsense. Thanks anybody who can help me get in touch with the said NZ family.-----------Ratan Singh, Phone: 91 141 2652561, mail: ratanpsych@...- Certificate in Food & Nutrition; Diploma in Nutrition and Health Education; Life Member, Nutrition Soc. of India; Member ISOM- Author of "Nutrition & Supplements in Major Mental Illnesses";- M.A. (Psychol), Postgraduate Diploma in Medical & Social Psychology, Ph.D.;- Certified Behavior Therapist (from late Prof. J. Guest guest
Hi there,Please consider visiting the vitamincfoundation.org forums. And consider reading the many works of Linus ing and Abram Hoffer. While it is true that oxalates can be a problem for some, I believe that vita c trumps that bc the oxalates not being metabolized by suitable bacteria is the problem, not the presence of the oxalates themselves (in my opinion). When I read ing's theories on the biochemical mechanisms (and the gigantic body of research!), I was too compelled to give up my mega doses of c daily. I believe all of my symptoms of Lyme disease have been lifted by c. And this was before I adopted a gluten free diet. Nothing gives me the immediate feel good feedback that c does. Another thought on oxalates... In my opinion ANY foodstuffs that remain undigested in the gut will cause problems. Like ing, I take about 20-25 grams per day, in three divided doses. One in the morning, one in the afternoon when I used to have a coffee, and one before bed. As a note, I first became interested in c when my three children came down with whooping cough simultaneously. I cured them all with high dose vitamin c, even my infant. Good luck to you. Learning about vitamin c has changed my life, and I hope it will help you, too. Jean Cathy:I desperately wish the New Zealand story were true.
