Guest guest
I have worked for more than one service that provides non-emergency vent services. Fortunately most services have " auto-vents " , but some do not, some possibly do not even have protocols regarding the vent, and do not provide " training " on the equipment. Which leads me to my question, a friend of mine was abruptly terminated (over the telephone at that) by a service because this person declined a call assignement to use equipment they had requested traing for put was not given. This individual was told by a member of management to " let respitory at the hospital set the equipment, and that it was only a 20 min transport " . Was the Medics action appropriate and what can the person do to ensure that in the future persecution will not happen for sticking to thier ethics? Guest guest
This services medical director needs to know that, on his/her medical license, that their is no protocol or directive for ventilators. Thus where QI meets CE is just not happening - not comfortable for a medical director... -MH >>> mlpoche@... 4/18/2006 1:37 pm >>> I have worked for more than one service that provides non-emergency vent services. Guest guest
I think that the individual was right to want a proper inservice. A service that I worked for about 10 years ago had just been donated syringe pumps and I asked for an inservice instead of trying to guess how to work them - what I got was a 10 minute lecture on how easy they were to operate and this is how it works. To say the least if I had not already been on the " Hit " list for having the wrong friends in the service, I was definetly on it then. I also did a wrong thing like write up the NEW ambulance for being hard to start. All bets were off by this time and I found another job within 6 months.
