Guest guest
Well, this month has certainly been full of ups and downs.. (some of the downs a little painful).. As most of you know, October 3rd would have been Bud's 36th birthday, so the day was bittersweet to say the least.. I didn't get to go to the cemetery to visit with him on Sunday because someone, who shall remain nameless, kinda sorta "forgot".. he tends to conveniently "forget" a whole lot of things that need doing that he doesn't really want to do.. At least he doesn't forget to feed me.. LOL.. or launder my clothes.. does however sometimes forget that I need something to wear AFTER I've had a bath.. usually becomes apparent that he "forgot" something once again, when I roll out into the living room in my power chair.. entirely nekkid!!! The weather was really really cooperative around the 10th of October. Earl was racing at a local track for the Ghost, Goblins & Gearheads weekend. He was picking up a little something for me round where he lives, but I wasn't going to see him until sometime later in the week.. So he kinda sorta, hinted, suggested that maybe I could come to the track and pick it up.. I made sure, during all his other race weekends, that he knew I wished that I could be there, but being a summer sporting event on asphalt.. that was nearly impossible because of the heat & extra heat generated by the asphalt.. Not to mention, if I went along with he and his father, I became a distraction that they didn't need while trying to concentrate on the car and winning the races.. and if and I came to the track, it would be an uncomfortable distraction that they didn't need either... BUT when he suggested that I make a trip to the track to pick up the stuff, I KNEW it was more than him wanting to see that I got the stuff he had for me sooner than Monday.. it was him asking, without asking, for me to come watch him race.. He wanted me to be there! So when gave Saturday & Sunday off, there was NO question about spending some time at the race track.. and he wasn't going to "forget" this idea this time.. (I'd have absolutely strangled him)... We arrived at the track around 2ish.. having missed his first round of time trials, we had to wait for the 2nd round.. There were enough cars in his "class" that the track officials broke them down into color groups for time trials and then the beginning rounds of eliminations. All of the cars in the class would not have fit into the staging lanes if they hadn't broken them into groups.. He spotted us immediately when we got through the gate, though I'm not sure how he did that.. and as I was attempting to get out of the car, to climb into my wheelchair, he suggested we follow him to the other side of the track, with more asphalt, making it easier to move the wheelchair around as well.. (not to mention put us on the other side of the track from his dad).. He parked us in the middle of the tracks official parking spots, for the track vehicles.. told me to hang my tag, and if anybody said anything to me.. to tell them to come talk to him about it.. I made it into the bleachers.. bout three rows up.. When he and asked just how I figured that I was getting up that high, I told them.. just like a baby.. I was going to climb over each seat till I got where I was going.. Unfortunately, it was WARM.. but when mentioned the heat and what it was doing with me.. told him to hold his horses.. that the heat was NOT going to force me to leave early.. I finally HAD to get out of the bleachers to go to the little girls room.. so I decided to just stay in my wheelchair from there.. everything had gone numb from sitting in the bleachers!!! LOL.. I'm glad I did decide to stay in the chair, because when it came time for him to run his 1st elimination round I was able to be right there on the starting line to watch him do it all.. and then WIN that round!!!... Wasn't able to stay for the next round.. at midnight they were announcing that they were shortening the track length to 1/8th mile instead of the quarter mile because the track was getting slippery from the dew settling. But they were still just running the buy-backs (people who lost the 1st round, could pay a fee, tech in again, and then run off between them to see who went back for the 2nd round of eliminations).. I just couldn't continue to "hang in there" until they got to his class again... BUT I GOT TO SEE HIM WIN!!!! I've been wanting and waiting for that for 4 years now.. I've got to hear about all his successes.. even got to see some video footage on youtube of him running.. but it's just not the same as being there to see it in person.. As for the rest of the month.. downside is that day before yesterday I woke up not feeling very well.. and actually ended up sleeping off and on all day.. but definitely fully until 11 in the morning.. thought it might be the flu coming on or something... and unfortunately, my "walking" to the master bath during the night has ended once again.. have to use the wheelchair to get there and back.. at least for now.. Went to the potty, and when I tried to climb back into bed to lay back down again, my right knee buckled and down I went.. pulled something in my left shoulder.. pretty sure I didn't hit the floor though.. but am just a bit sore from the wrenching in the fall.. don't see anything bruised.. knees both hurt like crazy now.. (though they have since I fell last March.. partial tear in the ACL of the left knee.. didn't have an MRI on the right, bu something in there is torn as well.. just didn't expect it to "give" now for the first time).. Had to learn, or teach myself.. and have to remind myself when getting back to bed in the middle of the night.. or going to bed in the first place.. that I MUST slowly turn and put my big butt down on the bed first.. then figure out how to pull myself up into my sleeping space.. Still ALL is good.. Earl has been visiting quite often lately.. he's helping with setting headstones this year, so Earl stays here with us when they are working. So I've been getting to see more of him than I have in quite awhile.. and he always but always wants to do something together.. usually that means playing Runescape.. So he's been keeping me busy.. And that's about it for my update.. but I GOT TO SEE HIM WIN!!! LOL.. HUGS |)onna ... Help Feed The Critters! Guest guest
Yup.. I still can't stop grinning when I think about getting to see him win... LOL And that rolling nekkid into the livingroom.. don't have to worry about having surprise visitors (wouldn't be a surprise anyway.. living room door is directly across from the bathroom door.. which I'm not allowed to shut when bathing) the surprise visitors aren't really a problem.. the problem lies in the fact that I didn't choose the cloth-ish type material for the seat of the power chair.. I picked the leather/pseudo-leather.. figuring spills would be easier to clean that way.. didn't think about bare skin stuck to the darn thing!... ROFL HUGS |)onna YAAAY!!!! You got to see him win!!! I have to add that the "visual" of you rolling into the living room in your happy nekkidness made me grin.... ~*~Hugs~*~ ~*~Akiba~*~ -------Original Message------- From: |)onna Date: 10/21/2010 11:53:27 AM To: MSersLife Subject: October Update from |)onna Well, this month has certainly been full of ups and downs.. Guest guest
I'm stiff and sore from the jolt.. but at my age even if I didn't have MS I'd still probably be stiff and sore from the jolt... The knee is a little more cranky than usual.. but hey! I've got pills for that.. and if I need something stronger to relax muscles.. all I gotta do is call the doc and he'll prescribe something like Flexeril, and then remind me that while I'm taking those pills I can't be taking my Baclofen at the same time.. <Tongue in Cheek here> There is ONE good thing (that I can think of at this minute) about living with the MonSter.. and that is we are getting one heck of a medical education... for free!!.. when those silly doctors paid ALL that money for theirs!.. LOL.. How's the family searching coming? HUGS |)onna I'm so glad you got to see Earl WIN! Woo-hoo!!! I'm glad you were able to go for that. Sorry to hear of your fall though. Are you sure you are okay? I have been thinking about you a lot and wondered how you were holding up. big hugs Sharon This email is a natural hand made product. Guest guest
Thanks nne I'm sure that when I can start moving around with a bit more confidence the soreness will work itself out. I'm just a bit leery of the knee deciding to give out again, without a bed being there to break my fall.. so I have been walking... gingerly... from the bed to my power chair and back from there to the bed again when it's time to come back in here (I haven't gotten out yet today.. well not to stay anyway.. still reading and answering email, and trying to get caught up).. but from the bed to the bath in here I use my manual wheelchair and when at my computer in the living room I use the power chair to get there and back.. I'm not ready to try and brave the new frontier my living room always seems to present without being planted firmly on my behind so I don't have to experience a planting of my behind firmly on the ground.. HUGS to you and Chuck, and hope that he will be feeling much much better with each passing day. |)onna Donna sorry you are still sore. Continued prayers.
