Hi

I'm new here, and am hoping that some more knowledgeable people may be able to

offer guidance.

My 12 year old daughter has diagnoses of dyslexia, dysgraphia and CAPD (decoding

subtype). She qualifies for OT at school; however, we elected to have her take

OT privately. Her test results, when administered " The Developmental Test of

Visual Perception " , were as follows:

(Age Equivalent)

2009 2010

Eye-hand coordination 7-4 >11-2

Position in Space - 6-9

Copying 8-1 11-2

Figure Ground <3-11 11-0

Spatial Relations 7-4 >11-2

Visual Closure <3-11 7-3

Form Constancy >11-2 >11-2

According to the Therapist, her most recent evaluation will not qualify her for

services (after a period of a year, I had her reevaluated). The Therapist tells

me that there was no regression, and that my daughter scored at least age

appropriate in all areas.

Can someone advise me as to what these skills mean for her, in practical terms?

Does mastering the skills make her a better reader and/or printer?

Also, will mastery mean anything when if she retakes the WISC IV (specifically,

with the Perceptual Reasoning section?

Thank you in advance.

Theresa
