Guest guest
I just found out that an old friend of mine and Ex-partner from New Jersey died recently. His name was Lew Goldberg and while I am sure many of didn't know him I know more then a few did. I had known him since 1985. He was a really good street smart EMT, an even better partner and yet a better friend. The kind of guy if you called in 15 minutes before the end of his tour and said could you cover half an hour or so it was never an issue, you call him while he's off duty and he'd helping you swap a starter on your POS POV (true story there, in the parking lot of CHEMS 13-4 EMS, no less with their tools too boot, don't tell Perla). We would keep bumping into each other in life as we ended running in very similar settings having very similar part time EMS gigs and the like. We last worked together in bucks county, PA for a transport service, we only did 24 hour tours on their only dedicated 9-1-1 truck (contracted to about 30 facilities). No one could figure out why we were never at each others throats since we seemingly agreed on nothing as far a how this business works or more often than not does not work but in reality we saw more eye to eye then most folks in this bushiness did. The other thing that drove them nuts is we'd get compliments on our service and the other 24 hour crews got complaints, they could never figure out why those " old guys " got kudos. I knew he was sick and we chatted a few times over the time I've been here in Texas mostly when Lew would send me a joke or something like that and we'd strike up a too short lived conversation. Well just be fore I found out he died I got this link from Chief Goldfeder the other day and man does it seem to be appropriate at this time. So with that I share this with Y'all _http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p4ySSg4QG8g._ (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p4ySSg4QG8g.) Oh and if you're say under 25 take my word for it this video and song are based in reality. It seems like yesterday when I ran behind a BRT for the first time and watched a working dwelling fire, that was 1972. Enjoy this one for Lew, RIP Brother. Louis N.
