I had a busy but wonderful day yesterday. I don't often get a chance to go anywhere so yesterday was a real treat! My daughter-in-law, three granddaughters and I left early yesterday morning to go to thrift stores. I was trying to find a good, used food processor. We went to the bigger town an hour away and first went to the Barkin' Basement Thrift Store. Alas, no food processor. But I did get several books for 10 cents each. Then to the Dog House Thrift Store. Again, no food processor but I did find 4 dresses that were just my size and just what I like. Then we went to meet my son who was cutting logs in the forest. It had been years since I had been to that area so it was a pleasant sightseeing trip. After that we went

further to the next town and went to two thrift stores there. Yet again, no food processor. But I did get a beautiful purple down comforter for $5! After that we drove back to the first town to Safeway to grocery shop. DIL bought steak on sale (cheap). I bought a box of apples (cheap:). Then we headed back to our hometown to the feed store to get straw, hay, chicken feed and grain. Son met us there and brought all that home with him. Then we went to our local grocery stores and Dollar Tree. I was SO tired! It was a good tired:) When we went to the forest we drove through patches of forest that was burning in the huge Rodeo-Chediski Fire of 2002. That fire burned 467,066 acres. It was the biggest forest fire ever in the history of Arizona. It is so sad to see the huge areas of burned forest. On the bright side there are small signs of forest recovery

visible. My son has been cutting firewood in the burned areas by Forest Service permit. Last week he got into one are where there were at least a hundred burned skeletons of elk. The elk were trapped by the fire and burned to death! What a tragedy. On our "outing" we saw deer, antelope and skunks. Unfortunately, for the skunks, they were all dead on the road. I was hoping to see some elk, but none appeared. It was a wonderful day and I really enjoyed getting away from home! hugs SharonThis email is a natural hand made product. What a fun day for you. How getting out makes such a difference in our moods, and attitudes. Its been a year since I've been out of my house. I can't even fathom why? But I know I NEED to go somewhere soon. The weather has turned to full fledged fall stormy, rainy, and windy. We almost lost power a couple times today. But hopefully the next sunny day I'm outta here......

Sorry you didn't get a food processor, but the other stuff was probably a great find nontheless.

Thanks for sharing, it makes me feel good to hear how others are doing living with their challenges. I love your stories of living on the farm. :-)

Hugs and Love, Jackie

May the peace of God be with you...the love of Jesus enfold you...and the Spirit of Christ fill you.

Sounds like an awesome time, Sharon! You must be exhausted after a day like that. You got some pretty good bargains! Good for you! I have to learn the fine art of bargain hunting, especially if I'm going to be on my own, and have a lot less income. Thanks for sharing your day with us!Love,KateTo: Group <mserslife >Sent: Sun, October 24, 2010 6:24:01 PMSubject: my "outing" yesterday
