The ambulance, which was transporting a patient, rear-ended the fire truck.

Story by _wpxi.com_ (http://www.wpxi.com/)

BUTLER COUNTY, Pa. --

An ambulance and fire truck collided Thursday afternoon on Route 68, east of

Route 422 in County.

State Police said the accident began when the fire truck stopped at an

intersection to let a school bus pass. The ambulance, which was transporting a

patient (non-emergency), rear-ended the fire truck.

At least one person was taken to a local hospital. Dispatch in

County said as many as three people could have been hurt. None of the victims'

conditions have been released.

The two emergency departments involved in the accident were the Petrolia

Volunteer Fire & Relief Association and the Lick Hill Volunteer Fire Company.

Route 68 was closed to traffic while officials investigated the scene. It

has since reopened.
