Black Chair Department of Public Safety Education FIRE SCIENCES INSTRUCTOR (TERM) ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:Associate's degree in Fire Science. Three years of fire science related experience required. Familiar with all phases of fire science and fire protection. Texas Commission on Fire Protection certification as an Intermediate Instructor required. Familiarity with computer programs, such as Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint or their equivalent preferred. Knowledge of a learning college and/or knowledge of learning communities are preferred. SALARY: $37,856.00 per 9 months, plus benefits. CONTRACT STATUS: Full-time, Temporary. SPECIAL WORKING HOURS: Scheduled courses. May include summers, weekends and nights. TRAVEL REQUIRED: As needed/authorized. RESPONSIBILITIES: Teach assigned Fires Science credit classes and conducts continuing education courses for industry. Assist in the development of course curriculum and instructional materials. Researches and identifies appropriate textbooks and recommends instructional resources. Works with students of varied multi-cultural backgrounds; evaluates student progress and performance; assign grades. Hold conferences with students and advise students regarding degree plans. Assist with marketing the program and recruiting students. Keep posted office hours and serve on committees. Performs other related duties as assigned.
