Hello

I have 3 yr old twin boys and would like to start administering the methyl b12 shots to them. I tried administering 1 shot for each already and despite having the numbing cream, I had a hard time having the boys stay still to give it properly. Does anyone have any suggestions on this? I have heard about giving it to them when they are sleeping but I'm a little afraid of them waking up and being upset and then having a hard time going back to sleep for fear, they will get another shot

If the injection is painful for them, inject yourself and see if it stings. If it stings, the ph is not balanced and you should find another compounding pharmacy. I use Lee Silsby in Ohio and I am in Houston, Texas. They make pre-filled syringes that must be refrigerated. Pay attention to your child though. In the beginning, my son asked for his shots but after two years he dreaded them and cried. Last week we recieved his lab results from another doctor and his B12 level was extremely high. It is 3963 and the norm is 211-900. I always thought it was safe and water soluble but apparently his body does not release it due to poor methylation. I honestly believe he was trying to tell me that I was over-dosing him. We stopped the B12/folinic/acetyl cysteine four weeks before

the blood test was performed. I am very concerned about this.

Hi ,We give ours at night. My son (age 3.5) stirs a bit when the needle goes in. But I've learned to be very quick about it and he doesn't wake up. I think Kerri's idea is a good one. For us, even when we've given the injection awake, it has not seemed to cause any discomfort beyond the initial pinch of the needle. We have used numbing cream on/off but don't bother with it anymore. I find that the quicker and more confident I can be with the injection, than the faster and less painful the whole process. It takes some practice. Also, in the beginning, I had my husband hold him down. Is there someone to help you or are you on your own?Best,Sylvia
