Hi Stef:

Call your Card. and ask for a rush INR..and I would go and get an

INR as soon as possible(tomorrow morning) and call in the PM to

find out what the INR is... please do it before the week-end....it

sound as though you may have too much of a good thing...Lovenox and

Coumadin!....

Please make sure you eat the vitamin K veggies daily to help

regulate your INR...and they prevent blood clots and/or internal

bleeding.

How long have you been on both these meds?. I was on them for 3

days after my PM implant. I hope you will also go see an

Ophthamologist and have your eyes checked, vision problems should

not be ignored or taken lightly.

I hope your PVI recovery will happen soon.

Rhythmol? Twice now I have had what I can only describe as a

bright glittery circle at the perifery of my eyesite... it happened

on Friday, and was gone within a minute or two.. tonight it has

happened again, and has lasted now about 10 minutes... now the

glitter is gone and I'm left with just what I'd call a fuzzy grey

spot down in the left most vision of my left eye.. it does seem to

be fading. Friday it felt like it was my right eye.

and I've been on lovenox shots since the surgery as well, as well as

coumadin. I have no tingling in my body, or loss of strength, so

I'm pretty sure it's not a stroke (plus the cardio said on Friday

that it wasn't a stroke). It's just never happened before, so I'm

wondering what it is? Anyone have a clue or similar experience?

I have experienced visual disturbances for years, off and on. I was told they

were occular migraines. Also I have a pinched nerve in my neck, and when that is

out, it can cause these spots to occur. They are shiney bright spots that move

across the eyes until they dissappear. Sometimes I can have them every day for

several days lasting about 10 minutes each time, and then they can be gone for

years. It is good to check it out though. I know what causes mine. Every one is

different.

Sref,

I have been on different rythm medication including Rythmol. I took it for 4

years few years ago, it was giving me some vision problems, after my ep switched

me to Tambocor, it did not happen again, but don't forget, if it makes you

worry, just go to ER or call your doctor.

thanks Isabelle - I've had my INR checked every two days since my surgery...

last Friday is was 1.3, Monday 1.2 and Wednesday 1.4... it needs to be 1.8

before they'll take me off the lovenox, so I'm hoping that tomorrow mornings

test (which I'll get instantly) will be good enough.. I've now been giving

myself shots twice a day for two weeks.. I'm just a little tired of it (and have

new respect for diabetics!).

I spoke with my sister about it, and before I could describe it, she described

what she gets if she has eye strain from concentrating too much on something. I

admit that for the past two days I have been a foot from my computer screen

non-stop as I try to catch up on things, so perhaps that's the problem. I will

definitely keep my eye on things and if it happens again, I'll definitely go see

someone. It was just strange, since I was not lightheaded... just the weird eye

glitter.

I did a google search and found this... it is EXACTLY what I experienced..

including the pictures! how weird! One site says to avoid stress.. I guess

with my PVI last week, I suppose I could have been under a little stress...

hopefully they'll go away as my body heals...

Ocular Migraine

The picture above* shows the progression of a

characteristic ocular migraine

Ocular Migraine is a variant of migraine that is not uncommon. It is believed

to be caused by the same mechanism as classical migraine; vascular spasm.

Instead of the spasm affecting the surface of the brain, these episodes affect

the ocular blood supply or the blood supply to the vision center in the brain.

Typically, these episodes begin with a visual disturbance that begins in the

peripheral vision. It often consists of a semi-circular, jagged, shimmering

light, which enlarges and becomes more central. This disturbance usually

obscures the vision within the jagged area. The light is often described a pale

pastel in color.

In the typical episode, the visual disturbance lasts 15 – 20 minutes and then

disappears. A mild headache may or may not follow the disturbance. Many ocular

migraine sufferers complain only of fatigue after the visual disturbance.

Thanks Alfred - I think Mandy is right... it's an occular migrane... I've read a

dozen sites and they all give exactly the same description, and thankfully say

that they can be caused by stress or eye strain, and that there is usually no

treatment necessary, other than perhaps an analgesic for headache. So, I'm not

going to worry about it anymore, but will be consious tomorrow of getting up

from my computer to give my eyes a break! I really didn't want to have another

ailment right now! :)

I absolutely get exactly this but it started before I took any meds.
