As I understand it ..... If you take NR while currently certified as a EMT

and fail the test it will not cost you the Texas cert. Now,,, say if you are

fixing to expire on your Texas cert. and did not complete the required CE,

and there is no way for to complete the CE......... You opt. to take the NR

and fail..... now is when the sweating starts, Go to

_http://www.dshs.state.tx.us/emstraumasystems/recertinfo.shtm_

(http://www.dshs.state.tx.us/emstraumasystems/recertinfo.shtm) and scroll

down to late recert. It is easy to

follow.

I had someone ask this question. Seems like this is something being said

here and there and not sure about the truth. If someone who is currently

Texas certified takes the NR test, not for recert but just to gain NR

certification, and fails, will they lose or jeopardize their Texas cert?

According to the DSHS website options for recert, if someone chooses the NR

test as their method of recertification, and fails, they cannot be

recertified by any other method. However, posessing a NR certification is a

method for recert. Myth or fact?
