Guest guest
Fried dough? Well it IS actually fried dough:) So that is probably the same thing. The Indians make the dough using baking powder but I always just make yeast bread dough for it. Here Indian Fry Bread is a big deal at the state fair and other similar events. Fried toast is not it but that sounds good too. Have you ever noticed how the subject here on group always gets around to FOOD? lolhugs SharonThis email is a natural hand made product. I immediately thought of the stuff my cousin's grandmother used to make when we'd visit on a Sunday afternoon (as kids).. She always had homemade bread, but it works with store bought'n too.. But she'd butter both sides of the bread, pretty heavily, and then place them on a cast iron griddle on the stove.. and grill both sides of the bread.. sort of like a grilled cheese, without the cheese.. Up here though, what you call "fry bread" we call "fried dough".. but it usually the dough put in a deep fryer.. when it comes out, it's either dipped in powdered sugar or a mixture of cinnamon and sugar is sprinkled generously on both sides... People actually make their living for the year, traveling to different fairs and carnivals with there little trailers.. But the one thing I loved very much as a kid was the local "grange" fair would get those little vanilla and chocolate ice cream squares, that came wrapped in like parchment paper or something.. but they would toast waffles, take them out of the toaster and pop that ice cream square between two waffles, and sprinkle them with powdered sugar.. and make an ice cream sandwich.. they were great!! I've tried to do them at home for the boys when they were growing up.. they were good, but nowhere near what I remembered from that "fair".. Halloween sounds great around your house.. I wish I could do for Halloween, all the things I love to do.. For most people Christmas is their favorite holiday.. I like it fine, but Halloween is the one I'd go all out for.. I love all the spooky stuff!!! That is something I definitely miss.. HUGS |)onna No holidays are celebrated in my community on Sundays here except Christmas and Easter so the grandkids went out trick-or-treating last night. The grandkids are all in a stupor today from their colored candy. Seriously in a stupor. That's because almost all of my grandkids have reactions to artificial food colors and most preservatives. But their parents make an exception on Halloween so the kids can be like all other children and have the colored Halloween candy. Tonight we are having our annual family Halloween party, complete with hay ride and s'mores around the campfire. I am make a pumpkin spice graveyard cake for the party. I hope it turns out like I want it to. My 14 year old granddaughter is in the kitchen making Halloween sugar cookies and cupcakes. My daughter-in-law is making bread dough now to set to rise all day. We are having an assortment of snacky type food along with fry bread and beans for dinner. My daughter and her husband and 4 kids will join us late this afternoon. So today I will have all eight of my grandkids here! hugs to all of you on this very spooky day:) Sharon This email is a natural hand made product. Guest guest
Seems my life revolves around food.. LOL.. and that's why I weigh in at as much as I do.. And they use yeast bread dough here too.. I've seen them "working" the dough... quite similar to making buns, except it's flatish when their finished working it out and they just lay it in the deep fryer and let it go.. And it's always good to hear about how other people "feed" on holidays.. I was in total shock when we got together with friends in Connecticut for New Year's Eve.. They do seafood (they bay shrimp and other stuff).. while we do the Pork & Sauerkraut thing.. I thought them strange.. and they thought us strange.. LOL.. but we had a GREAT time.. even with that strange New Year's Eve Smorgasbord! HUGS |)onna Fried dough? Well it IS actually fried dough:) So that is probably the same thing.
