Guest guest
vitamin A and C would be my first things I would use to treat with....lots liquids also...and if it were my son i would give no suppresion of any kind unless his vitals were showing severe distress...the more you can let the body fight on its own the better chance it has of recovering itself....unless of course it becomes life threatening.. channa To: mb12valtrex Sent: Saturday, January 21, 2012 6:55 PMSubject: Possible chicken pox? My son has a rash today and has been feeling sick, a lttle warm and coughing for a few days. His rash is a few small, red, pimple like spots on his face and legs. He only has 7 marks. They are itchy. He is on valtrex and has been for seven months. He is not vaccinated.Any thoughts on something else this could be? How should I treat? C and Lysine? Guest guest
Chicken pox is usually red bubbles with clear fluid in them so I doubt it's that. Definitely doesn't look like big red angry pimples. No suggestions of what it is, though. Not likely a herpes related virus. ~ Antiviral Therapy 101~ gryffinstail.wordpress.com ~~ @Gryffins_Tail ~ My son has a rash today and has been feeling sick, a lttle warm and coughing for a few days. Guest guest
LOL! Did I say they were angry? There does appear to be fluid in the center. Almost like a head on a pimple. But still pink, not dark red like the images I googled. He went to sleep at 6:00. He does not feel well. I guess I will know in a day or 2? > > > My son has a rash today and has been feeling sick, a lttle warm and coughing for a few days. Guest guest
Lol, no but any pimple that might look like a pox would have to look at least a little angry! You'll definitely know in a day or 2 but I have to say that likelihood of getting chicken pox while on valtrex is pretty slim, if not non-existent. Valtrex is used to treat chicken pox. ~ Antiviral Therapy 101~ gryffinstail.wordpress.com ~~ @Gryffins_Tail ~ LOL! Did I say they were angry? There does appear to be fluid in the center. Guest guest
My mom told me that when my brother and I had chicken pox, they started out as red dots in the hotter spots of the body, like pits, closer to groin and neck, not on let's say hands and feet. She's " just a mom " too and not and never was a biomed type. So who knows if that is good info or not on typical appearance of them. Guest guest
by tomorrow the bumps should be full blown blisters if it's chicken pox. I'm not saying you're mom is wrong because mom's are *awesome*, I'm just pointing out that it's probably not because of the Valtrex. There are several other diseases that can look like chicken pox. ~ Antiviral Therapy 101~ gryffinstail.wordpress.com ~~ @Gryffins_Tail ~ LOL! Did I say they were angry? Guest guest
Ooh. Good one. Looking at rash images is so much fun. I am not sure about this one. It did not change today, so no explosion of chicken pox. I am going to have my family dr look at it tomorrow. > > > > > My son has a rash today and has been feeling sick, a lttle warm and coughing for a few days.
