Guest guest
Here's a good question: I always give probiotics at night just because....I figure they're not going to eat all night so it's good to leave those little suckers alone in there to do their job. But I was just thinking: you think it's more effective to do it after they poop? -Tammy

Guest guest
I've heard that it is better to give after food so the stomach acid doesn't destroy them and they need something to eat???....any thoughts on this one?? Guest guest
I read that they should be given at least 4 hours away from antibiotics. So if your child is receiving antibiotic in am and at dinner, how can you give it in am? My son is currently receiving vancomycin in morning and at night which most likely has no activity against lactobacilli but I still give my son culturelle after school as soon as he comes home and then he drinks coconut or almond milk and a little snack. I also worry about the best time for probiotic and what food does to their absorption. I keep thinking if these probiotics are even of any benefit to my kid's gut or not. Am I doing it the wrong way? is > > I've heard that it is better to give after food so the stomach acid doesn't destroy them and they need something to eat???....any thoughts on this one?? > > > ________________________________ > > To: " mb12valtrex " <mb12valtrex > > Sent: Tuesday, January 24, 2012 9:18 PM > Subject: Re: Probiotics... > > >  > I have always given them first thing in the am on an empty stomach. > Kerri > > > To: " mb12valtrex " <mb12valtrex > > Sent: Tuesday, January 24, 2012 7:43 PM > Subject: Probiotics... > > >  >  >  > Here's a good question: I always give probiotics at night just because....I figure they're not going to eat all night so it's good to leave those little suckers alone in there to do their job. But I was just thinking: you think it's more effective to do it after they poop? >  > -Tammy >

Guest guest
We just started D-Lactade Free from CP. I found that when I gave it to Maia on an empty stomach, it's causing diarrhea for her (I'm giving one child scoop). But it works perfectly for her when I give it with food (so I give it at the same time as her b-complex). I had always given her probiotics on an empty stomach and they didn't appear to work very well but when I spoke to Harry from CP, he suggested that if I were seeing that, then I might try giving it with food and he was right about that. And yes she also suggest after food thru the daySent from my iPod Hi TammyDr Natasha suggest thru the day But mentions in her book that it is good practice to give at nite for the reasons u give... Guest guest
Hi is,The doctors my son has seen suggest taking them at bedtime and after 2 hours of antibiotics. They usually go by the directions on the bottle in regards to with or with out food.If no directions then experiment with and without food.If the kids don't react negatively, that is good.Although keep in mind if there may be die off sympoms. That kinda changes that theory. Good luck is. Thanks for all your input on my son.Right now I have stooped all and only cleansing.I am going to hit the worms next as these symptoms don't look like any liver issues that I was convinced of all these years ,Tammy F. Guest guest
I've been told 2 hours away from an anti biotic is fine.
Guest guest
i could be wrong but my understanding is the stomach doesnt produce acid until food is eaten...and that why probiotic should be given on empty stomach to bypass the acid that is released when food is eaten....unless it is a hardy probiotic like culturelle which can survive stomach acid....someone correct me if i am wrong channa To: mb12valtrex Sent: Wednesday, January 25, 2012 12:07 AMSubject: Re: Probiotics... Guest guest
on Feb 1st - there's an online conference on pre/probiotics. Seems to be heavily sponsored by vendors so not sure how valuable the information will be. They have some time built in to " chat with the experts " http://preandprobiotics.com/conferences.php

Guest guest
Again, I have always given on an empty stomach and when tested through labs, my son's good bacteria is always high. I give it at least 20 min. before breakfast. Seems to work well. I use VSL#3. We started this one about a month ago. Anyone have any feedback on this pro-biotic?
