Guest guest
I want you to know that your job advertisement is not the only one I am referring to. This just happens to be the last of several that I have read in the past week. Can anyone explain to me what competitive salary means? No one puts down the salary on the job advertisement. Are they competitive with fire ems, city ems, or private ems? Are they just competitive in your area or all over the state or nation or just your city? I go to websites and cannot find out the salaries before I apply. If I do not apply, then I cannot find out if I am competitive with you. If I do apply, you want me to come in, fill out application, do interviews and then you will tell me your salary. Why would you want to hire a 64 year old EMS director anyway? If I put out a job posting, as a City of Beaumont EMS Director, I am required to list hourly wages, etc. and I would want to do that before anyone applied. That way they would know what to expect to make before they applied. Am I crazy or is this some type of secret being kept from future applicants? Guest guest
Mr. /Ms Foote I think having a 64 yr old would add to the knowledge and experience on our department. I completely understand your statement about the salaries. I would like to clarify my department’s salary information. We are a small rural department with the closest hospital 60 miles away we run 700 calls per year with an average of 400 transports. I base my “competitive” statement on the fact that our department pays similar to other small rural departments in the Texas Panhandle. I am unsure what other departments of the same size and call volume in Texas pays but I would like to know if anyone would share the information. Salaries are based on experience. Shifts are 12 or 24 hours for part-time, PRN personnel. EMT Basic part-time, PRN 9.00 per hour EMT Intermediate part-time, PRN 10.00 per hour EMT Paramedic part-time, PRN 15.00 per hour EMT Basic Full-time 22,000.00-25,000.00 per year and benefits EMT Intermediate Full-time 29,000.00-32,000.00 per year and benefits EMT Paramedic Full-time 37,000.00-42,000.00 per year and benefits Benefits include 401k program, wellness benefit, paid vacation after 1 year, uniform allowance, certification fees paid, CEUs. Guest guest
I was reading old email and came across yours I am a volunteer EMS that is self supporting at the present, but I see fewer volunteers the call volume is going up and less money coming in. How do you get monetary support for your organization. Is tax support through city, county, ESD? I just need to figure out how to support my service. We are located half way between Houston and San . Cover 975 square miles have two local level 4 hospitals and a level 3 is 45 miles away which is where most of our transports go. We had about 1400 runs in 2007. Any suggestions?
