OT: Obama's state of the union address last night

I was surprised to hear President Obama call out " protecting our kids from

mercury poisoning " in the state of the union address last night. Does anyone

know if there's an actual policy or legislation he was referring to?

Now, I'm confident a farmer can contain a milk spill without a federal agency

looking over his shoulder.  (Applause.)  Absolutely.  But I will not back down

from making sure an oil company can contain the kind of oil spill we saw in the

Gulf two years ago.  (Applause.)  I will not back down from protecting our kids

from mercury poisoning, or making sure that our food is safe and our water is

clean.  I will not go back to the days when health insurance companies had

unchecked power to cancel your policy, deny your coverage, or charge women

differently than men.  (Applause.)

maybe i am cynical but i think he was talking in more of a metaphor....i mean if he meant that literally then that would include monitering levels of mercury in dentisty for children...flu shots....or maybe he was just talking about fish?

i dont see obama goin against the goverment and attacking the elephant in the room....that goverment makes sure everyone ignores...nahhhh

Can you imagine how many popular votes a guy could get if he just ran on the platform of getting mercury out of our kids' lives?(amalgam, shots, light bulbs, etc)

Wow - I had no idea he has said that.  Do you know when/the speech/the audience?  What is the reason for the fine - just a punitive measure?  What about those who have medical waivers?  Would they have to vaccinate despite the medical concerns in order to avoid being fined?  That's crazy.

U bet.. I just wonder if they put money 4 the politicians campaigns.. Tooo.. Our pediatrician denies any link of autism and vaccines soo does or GP when I look and listen to them I think to myself "u can not be that stupid and u r not them u must be EVIL" cause now there is 1:140 kids wth ASD and no one in the medical world is curious enough to find out the cause of such an increase.....Sent from my iPod

I think I remember reading about cuts to the EPA which included less monitoring of mercury emissions by factories (coal and cement I think) Republicans wanted the cuts and I think they got them...of course the epa was pushing those stupid light bulbs and forget about the vaccines I think for now...gvt has a long way to go on that but I would think obama would be our only hope in uncovering the pharma fraud....-- Sent from my Palm Pre

I was surprised to hear President Obama call out "protecting our kids from mercury poisoning" in the state of the union address last night. Does anyone know if there's an actual policy or legislation he was referring to?Now, I'm confident a farmer can contain a milk spill without a federal agency looking over his shoulder. (Applause.) Absolutely. But I will not back down from making sure an oil company can contain the kind of oil spill we saw in the Gulf two years ago. (Applause.) The government is taking away our rights more each day. My hubby is a general surgeon and can not even prescribe meds for his own family anymore, especially politically incorrect prescriptions , like abx of lyme. Any administration that is for big government is for taking away American autonomy . That is the autonomy to choose what they need and want in their pursuit of life, liberty ,and happiness. To:

It's soo crazy.. The bankers left us high and dry.. Here in the UK soo much of our tax ££ was put to keep them going....

In the same yr they lots all that money they were paying big bonus in their bigs boss pay.... And all the politicians do is talk of stoping it but never do... Get this now they r legislating for pple who ve shares in the same companies to police the bonus(hahaha)...

In the mean time they r cutting benefits(social security) at the moment they want to make single mums who use the child support agency to get money from the dads pay a fee.. I mean how low do these pple go I can not wait for elections u can be sure am not vote for them...Sent from my iPod

yes i would definitly believe that...and anyone who speaks out gets punished....that why when i finish my book i will move out of country because i wont be safe...i cant even start a support group about biomed in my area because i wont be safe....its just like something out of a movie...

but thruout history look at what people have done...why would people be any diffrent now?
