I was surprised to hear President Obama call out "protecting our kids from mercury poisoning" in the state of the union address last night. Does anyone know if there's an actual policy or legislation he was referring to?Now, I'm confident a farmer can contain a milk spill without a federal agency looking over his shoulder. (Applause.) Absolutely. But I will not back down from making sure an oil company can contain the kind of oil spill we saw in the Gulf two years ago. (Applause.) I will not back down from protecting our kids from mercury poisoning, or making sure that our food is safe and our water is clean. I will not go back to the days when health insurance companies had unchecked power to cancel your policy, deny your coverage, or charge women differently than men.

(Applause.)

Big government=Big Business=Big government=Big Business. The government is in our ez chairs and big business is sucking the life out of us.It's all the same. Doesn't matter one way or the other. You vote for those who toot the horn for less gov't involvment, and essentially you're voting for more big business bullies. You vote for " gay rights, freedom from religion, equal rights, prochoice"...you're voting for bigger gov't who has been bought by big business. -So round and round and round it goes. Doesn't make one spit of difference. It's an effing joke if you ask me.I'd rather spend my energy worrying about how I vote locally. Atleast the lies and trickery are on a smaller

And while I'm on it, I would like to add that the way we have voted has not shaped things. The way we have chosen to spend our money has.People are too dazzled by nice cars, big screen tv's, and $3,000 pocketbooks to be concerned with the fact that we are being poisoned and drained of all the things our parents and grandparents worked and fought so hard for us to have.We have eaten ourselves alive. It's sad, really. For me personally, living like a Franciscan is less complicated. The only thing that matters to me is the health, education of the family, the cell of society. Just concentrating on those two things each day is all consuming. We can't turn around a freighter ( governments) overnight, but we can try to maneuver our little tugboats (our families) in the right direction. We just want the freighters to stay out of our waters, unless they are willing to give us some support in troubled waters. ...and I don't see that happening anytime soon.
