Guest guest
My sympathies go out to Whitey's family for his passing. The EMS community in Texas owes him tremendously for everything he brought to our profession. He pushed us professionally towards bettering EMS in our state and nation. He shall be truly missed. Guest guest
Whitey was a wild man! He was one of the funniest people I ever met. I met him when I was in Paramedic school in Houston in 1981, and I was, at that time, a sort of player in Texas EMS. That got me into some committees with Whitey and I had the great fortune to have been with him socially several times. I won't recount some of the episodes I went through with him, but suffice it to say that traffic laws were for others, not Whitey when he was in his staff car, no matter what city he was in. He was a member of a generation of EMS folks that's now gone. Weatherall was one of them, and I'm sure the members of this list can come up with many more. Thanks to Whitey and Weatherall and others like them, Texas EMS is now the premier example of how to do it. There's been lots of water under the bridge since them, but they were the founders. Rest well, Whitey. And I hope St. gives you a SUV with a Federal Q2B, and twinklies all over the place, and lets you roam Heaven with lights and sirens. You deserve it. Guest guest
It is so cool that we have had so many wonderful, fun, and exciting people so far in our colorful EMS community. Whitey will be missed even by those of us who didn't personally know him because he represents more of that color and history that has brought us to where we are right now.
