Guest guest
First off, prayers for everyone who is sick or depressed or just plain worried and tired... Welcome to the new folks! Yay n and The Electric Chair! :-D Where I've been - I have been working on stitching and so on, and seems like that was about ALL I could do - I think the stress of Himself being unemployed for all this time has come out in my neck and shoulder freezing up, and ME kind of getting stuck in " stasis " - just waiting waiting waiting and unable to really DO anything while I'm waiting. It happens to me now and then, it's very annoying ... Anyway, the story of the job - Himself was recommended for the General Manager position at a shiny new extended stay hotel, had the preliminary interview a couple of weeks ago. The last Monday? Tuesday? The headhunter called and asked to be emailed his resume, then emailed Thurs setting up an interview appt for 11:30 PM!!! Fri night. We thought this was a little weird, but since he would be traveling from out of town we thought maybe that was the answer - and of course Himself wouldn't pay attention to the wifey and email a check-it ... :-P SO anyway, Himself got all done up in his best suit and went to this interview at 11:30PM, where he sat all by himself for 2 hours because the headhunter guy had been there at 11:30 AM.... Then Saturday morning we got up to find Himself's favorite best-buddy cat had been closed up overnight in the library and was dying - Himself had spilled very strong coffee, apparently nto found all of it on the cleanup, and Buster had drunk it. We think perhaps he had some sort of kidney problem we didn't know about - cats are very bad about hiding any sign of sickness until it's too blessed late to do anything for them - and the overdose of caffeine and artificial sweetner was the last straw... Losing him was a huge shock, and on top of the " whattheheckhappened " about the interview was almost too much for Himself to deal with.... We spent a very quiet Sunday, skipped church because Himself wasn't ready to deal with people, went out in the afternoon for a cup of coffee and a piece of pie. First thing yesterday morning, the headhunter guy called to apologize for HIS mistake and to reschedule the interview for 11:30 yesterday morning - Himself was in town at job service, and JUST had time to rush home and get all prettified AGAIN. He feels that the interview went really really well - he got some " Brownie points " for showing up to the WRONG interview, he has VERY good recommendations, and he is apparently in the last 5 out of almost 500 applicants.. So we are supposed to hear one way or the other by the end of the week, and we are praying hard - he would be perfect for this position, and he very very VERY much wants it. And that;s the story of our last week or two... tonight I am cooking a ham in applebutter, some au gratin potatoes, and whatever green veg I lay hands on first, possibly with some hot apple pie to follow.... Stressed, tired, nervous, very cautiously hopeful... Oh yeah, and getting snowed on.

Guest guest
, I'm sorry to hear about the mix-up with the interview time. That had to be just about worse than the pits for 'himself'.. sitting there at 11:30 at night and waiting and waiting and waiting some more, only to be disappointed that his appointment didn't show. I'll keep my fingers crossed and say a prayer or three or four that he happens to be the winner out of the 5 finalists! I'm also sorry to hear about your neck and shoulder. Sure hope they are loosening up and feeling better for you now. It is just awful being 'stuck' in 'stasis' and not knowing how to get unstuck is sometimes even worse I think. I've been there a few times myself and it's never pretty. Unfortunately, I don't have any suggestions on how to get you unstuck either. But here's hoping to a brighter day for you, and that you will start to feel a little better and a little less stiff, as well as stuck. "drunk" ham recipe -Instead of apple butter - 1 can "classic" coke (new coke just ain't the same!) 1 small can pineapple juice enough dark brown sugar to make a thick sauce a jigger or two of cheap bourbon/whisky Get ham ready to cook as usual. Pour Coke into a BIG measuring cup. Stirin pineapple juice, and then stir in sugar until the mixture is at leastsyrup-thick. (This will foam up, which is why you want a big cup!) Pour about 1/2 this mix over ham, cover, and cook per instructions.About halfway done, pour the other half over and return to cooking... I have the "crock" part (with a glass lid) from an old oval crockpot thatI use special for baking stuff like this - works great as long as you don'tcook at higher than about 350 degrees. in WYPractical Blackwork Designs"You get a wonderful view from the point of no return..." http://practical-blackwork.blogspot.com http://practicalblackwork.com-----Original Message-----From: MSersLife [mailto:MSersLife ] On BehalfOf SharonSent: Wednesday, November 10, 2010 8:51 PMTo: MSersLife Subject: Re: Update sorta Thanks for the recipe. Put the ham in a deep dish (or a slow cooker) and cover with the applebutter mix.Cook the time required for the size of the ham. Goes fabulous with cheesy potatoes and green peas. Guest guest
, Tried the apple ham the other night.. though I'm pretty sure that it didn't cook long enough before was pulling it out of the oven and serving it up.. but in his defense, he was starving and just let it in long enough to get hot on the outside but was only warm in the center.. I should have told him at least an hour and a half from the time you start to smell it cooking.. but dummy me.. only said an hour.. didn't realize he was going to stand over the stove until he got a whiff and could start timing it!.. Depends on what I have in the house at the time, I think! :-D The drunk ham is more of a family tradition, the apple ham has fewer ingredients... in WY Practical Blackwork Designs "You get a wonderful view from the point of no return..." http://practical-blackwork.blogspot.com http://practicalblackwork.com Update sorta First off, prayers for everyone who is sick or depressed or just plain worried and tired... Welcome to the new folks! Yay n and The Electric Chair! :-D Where I've been - I have been working on stitching and so on, and seems like that was about ALL I could do - I think the stress of Himself being unemployed for all this time has come out in my neck and shoulder freezing up, and ME kind of getting stuck in "stasis" - just waiting waiting waiting and unable to really DO anything while I'm waiting. Losing him was a huge shock, and on top of the "whattheheckhappened" about the interview was almost too much for Himself to deal with.... He feels that the interview went really really well - he got some "Brownie points" for showing up to the WRONG interview, he has VERY good recommendations, and he is apparently in the last 5 out of almost 500 applicants.. ------------------------------------
