Hi there, my son was succesfully being treated on anti-virals in Texas and when

we relocated to FL we lost a doctor with the ability to prescribe him the

medication he needs. I am willing to travel in the state of Florida, has anyone

had success in Florida with a physician who takes insurance who prescribes

anti-virals? I'm desperate for help as his behavior has spiraled out of control

and the last time this happened and he was administered the anti-virals, it

stopped the behavior all together.

Sorry, I don't have any information about dr's in florida accepting insurance but I wanted to ask u a question about the behavior you mentioned. You mentioned your sons behavior was out of control and then u gave him antivirals and it stopped. What kind of behavior was he exhibiting? My son has been aggressive since he was 2 and now that he is 4 and a half it is worsening, and I am desperate!!!!!!!! I had given him diflucan and it had almost stopped but soon after the calm, the aggression came back. If you or anyone can help I would greatly appreciate it, I don't know what to do anymore!CassieSent on the Sprint® Now Network from my BlackBerry®Sender: mb12valtrex Date: Thu, 26 Jan 2012 19:06:45 -0000To: <mb12valtrex >ReplyTo: mb12valtrex Subject: Florida referrals Hi there, my son was succesfully being treated on anti-virals in Texas and when we relocated to FL we lost a doctor with the ability to prescribe him the medication he needs. We see Dr. Berger in Tampa who does not take insurance but who will give you a nice receipt to submitand who will answer their questions... I just got 500$ back from 2 visits last year. I was late with the submissions

but got all but my copays back.I have heard from someone on this list or another biomed list that they saw Dr. Rossignol and got a specialconsideration to have him covered because he is a developmental pediatrician. So I believe they had HMO

with no out of network benefits but with this exception they were able to pay the doctor " cash " and thensubmit the paperwork and get all but the copays back. Both mean big out of pocket... but what we are doing is using flexible spending to take care of those.

I am seeing Dr. Ron Shemesh in Tampa, who is right near Dr. Berger. I am not sure if he takes kids. If he does, he takes insurance too. He is an integrative med doctor. I don't think he'd be up on the

anti-viral protocol but he may listen. There are other biomed docs but I think so far as one that takes insurance, that is hard to find. :-\

My son was treated by Neuro Sensory Centers of American in Southlake TX (they

take health insurance and bill). At the time he was 6 and had 33 incidents of

aggression at school (he was in a regular ed class 1 teacher to 24 kids), It was

like a light went out and he turn into a crazy person regressing at a rapid

rate. They put him on 200MG of Acyclovir 1 Capsule by mouth at bedtime for the

first 3 weeks followed by Amantadine 100MG 1 Capsule by mouth in the morning (3

weeks after he started the Acyclovir), then he took the two together for almost

6 months. Stopped ALL aggression (hitting, kicking, screaming, crawling under

desks). His behaviors did worsen the first week on the Acylovir, but turned

around quickly therafter. We are back to this rapidly regressing behavior (oddly

enough it's cycles late Nov through East). Thanks for the suggestions, I will

try to see what I can do to get help!

I am not sure what you are referring to him dropping or not advertising, but I

can assure you that Dr. Rossignol is not, nor has ever been, a developmental

pediatrician. I believe his credentials are posted on his website (not sure).

He and my wife, who is also a physician, had a lengthy discussion on his

background and how he came to his current practice. I say this only to make

sure and not mislead anyone. To state otherwise on insurance claims could

potentially be considered fraud.

This is what I am saying:I read a post on a group like this or this group that someone had their insurance cover their visit to Dr. Rossignolunder special circumstances. It was paid cash and then reimbursed.

What I read in that post was they had it covered under developmental pediatrician. If they were mistaken or using a fraudulent code, I couldn't tell you.Perhaps I am mistaken as well.PS what I meant by " dropping " is I don't know what it means to call yourself a dev ped ie maintaining some membership in some

medical organization, continuing education credits whatever. I never looked into it. It sounds like you are much more knowledgeable on this than I am since you are married to a physician. I was just meaning " perhaps something has changed " but clearly you are saying no this is wrong. So thanks for pointing that out.

If Dr Rossignol is am MD then insurance would pay, whether he was a ped or another kind of MD. Right?Sent from my iPhone

I don't know, it depends on what your insurance co says.A long time ago, when I wanted to see an out of network doctor, the insurance would only pay if there was no other similar doctor in my area (30 miles) and this is how I got them to pay for my daughter's dev ped. That is why the dev ped thing stuck with me and

all.

That might have been me. Because there was a shortage of dev pedis in Atlanta

the wait lists were long. I called the ins co and got a gap exception and listed

rossignol as my dev ped. I still had to pay out of pocket but was reimbursed all

but my $20 copay. Otherwise he would have only been covered at 80%.

No. Depends on your insurance policy. Most have in-network and out-of-network doctors. Most DANs are out of network. So you have to superbill your insurance and get reimbursed whatever percentage they cover of out of network docs - and that's different per policy.

Ah! Ok. So there was no local dev ped but you said you wanted to go to " this guy " who you thought would work, and they said ok... and either they didn't check to besure he was a dev ped or they didn't care.

Cool! Glad it worked for you.Clears up the confusion :-)

They did not care--I said he was an autism specialist and my son had

autism--they were fine with that...I could pick anyone--you jut have to know to

ask fo a gap exception. It is worth a shot.
