Guest guest
I am not going outside as much with the cooler weather. We've had ice on the poultry waterers several mornings now. Yesterday there was snow on the high country (about an hour from us) and the forecast says those of us in the lower elevations may get snow tomorrow night. There is a cold wind blowing today. I do miss going out to the chickens/ducks. I should go out today because soon it will be too cold/icy for me to go out until spring again:( I have been reading every day to my granddaughters. We just finished "Heidi" this morning. I hadn't read that since I was 9 so it was fun for me too:) I'm not sure what I will read next. Perhaps "The Borrowers". Or maybe " Bunyon". I always pick up books at the thrift stores so we have a ready supply. I have, as always, been working on genealogy. I have also been trying to decide what I can give my grandkids for Christmas this year. Money is tight so I'm thinking CHEAP. lol (when am I not thinking "cheap"?) The younger kids are much easier. The two oldest boys (20 and 23) are the hardest. We did have a death among the poultry. The smaller male Narraganset turkey died on Saturday. He had an injured neck but we don't know what happened to him. I have to brag a bit on my 14 year old granddaughter, Kate. Kate is the one who takes care of all the poultry (chickens, ducks and turkeys). The male ducks are fighting right now (leading up to their mating season) so she decided a few of the troublemakers needed to be separated. So she took a dozen straw bales and made a stacked strawbale house for several of the ducks. It's so cool! She designed it herself and then had her little sisters help her stack the strawbales. It's warm and very cozy. Also very sturdy. Kate is so attuned to the animals--she always knows what is best for them. Kate is the granddaughter with Aspergers Syndrome. Oh, I nearly forgot. I am going to "town" on Monday. I have an appointment with the new female doctor here on the mountain. Wish me luck! My daughter, Challis, will take me and then we'll go to lunch to celebrate her birthday. Challis will turn 41 tomorrow. Now that does NOT seem possible!I've probably bored you all enough for one day. I am a stay-at-home and my life revolves around the poultry, the farm and the grandkids. love to each of youSharonThis email is a natural hand made product.
