Austin City Manager Marc Ott today appointed Ernesto to lead the

Austin- County Emergency Medical Services.

has been serving as acting director of the agency since July, when

former director Herrington retired. Prior to that, was EMS

deputy director.

has 25 years of EMS experience and has worked in Fort Worth and Corpus

Christi.

“Our emergency medical services operation is one of the best in the

country,†Ott said today in a memo to city council members and Mayor Will

Wynn. “I am confident Ernie will make significant contributions to

our organization.â€
