Nada discovered twitter

Oh joy! I have used Twitter for a very long time (almost since they started) and

it's an integral part of my career and the community I'm a part of. I have

switched back and forth from private to public back to private and recently back

to public. I can still block users from following me when I have a public

profile, but it only means they cannot contact me and cannot see my updates on

their twitter feed. They can still, if they choose, go to my profile page to

read my updates. Usually that works just fine, unless you have a nada stalker.

So this morning I tweeted something about finally getting my security deposit

back and everything with the move being done and GUESS WHAT?

Two seconds later I get a reply tweet from someone who is clearly nada (her user

name is her name) saying some crap about how she hopes I'm enjoying the new

place, etc. So my first step was to laugh aloud, then delete her tweet, and then

block her profile.

I am not having a panic attack, but I am feeling a little jittery. I don't know

if that's because she wasn't able to upset me or if it's just a little mild

anxiety. I know better than to respond because that just fuels the flame and

teaches her she can get a response from me. I have been VERY clear that I want

no contact with her, so there is no need for me to respond.

I'm a little torn on whether or not I want to switch back to a private profile

though. It's not like she has my address or phone number. Also, what do I care

if she's trying to snoop on my updates on Twitter? I keep it very simple on

there, mostly chatting with colleagues and friends about industry related stuff.

And since I will probably never talk to her again, what do I care if she sees my

tweets? I try not to post personal stuff on Twitter, like I said.

Any thoughts, anyone?

Oh geez that sucks!!!!!

I don't know how to help other than send you a virtual squeeze and then say

a little thank you prayer to god that my nada never learned to use

computers.

XOXO

I am actually not upset at all. I sort of feel like it's like how my cable

company tries to call me every 6 months or so to see if I'd like to upgrade. I

just smile and say " no thanks. "

APparently every few months she's going to try and solicit me for contact, and

I'm just going to smile and say " no thanks " . She doesn't deserve a reaction from

me.

I decided to leave the office for a minute to run an errand, and after some

fresh air and deep breaths, yeah, I don't give a crap what she tries to see

about me, as long as she's leaving me alone.

sounds like you're getting a handle on the situation, and feeling more empowered

and not so much like a limp, helpless victim. That's wonderful! You go,

grrrrl!

It's possible that she won't like it, or will grow bored of it.

So fingers crossed. :) You could go private til then.

When i had a facebook I had my entire family blocked. I didn't even want them

to know I had a profile.

What is super weird is that I blocked her immediately, but then decided I wanted

to see if she was tweeting or following anyone else, just to be safe (this was

within about 20 minutes of blocking her). I went to look for her profile and

she's just entirely gone. I can't find it at all. I can't tell if she deleted

her profile or just blocked me back so I can't find her. I don't really care,

but it's just weird.
