Guest guest
Yep to it needing an rx here in Canada. Also called antivert. I'm wondering if anyone knows if ms can affect ears and hearing? My right ear feels like there's so much pressure in it and with the constant buzzing sound in it, I can't hear out of it very well. I was sleeping on my left side and couldn't even hear the phone ringing right beside me. Made me wonder what deaf people use for smoke alarms? Anyway everytime I turn onto my left side, wham I get vertigo yet it doesn't happen on the other side. So question is can ms affect ears! ... hugs, Cait Nausea... For months now I have been suffering from nausea, dizziness, and it is getting really bothersome, because overall I am feeling not tooooo bad, but then this interferes.... Has anyone been on any meds, otc, or prescription for this? Any advice??? I was going to ask everyone first, then speak to my doctor about it..... I am not sure if it is the meds I am already on or not.... Guest guest
In answer to your question Cait, Yes, MS can affect the ears.. usually in the form of tinnitus (ringing in the ears).. but I had done some reading awhile back.. if the Vagus Nerve is being affected by MS, it can lead to all sorts of things.. imbalance.. vertigo.. tinnitus etc.. Periodically I will get the impression that I've gone deaf in one ear, and then usually the ringing will start.. doesn't last long for me though.. The pressure you feel.. is it that sort of thing one might feel when in an airplane.. Sometimes that happens around here without me being in a plane (have never been) or driving up the mountain (the change in altitude will cause it as well).. there's a tongue jaw thing I do that will allow my ear(s) to "pop" and then I can hear clearly again.. Guest guest
Yes, MS can effect the ears. Or specifically the auditory nerve behind the ear. As for the dizziness, ask the doctor for SERC. It is a medication for dizziness. I am now going to the eye and balance clinic in Toronto. It is called the Dizzy clinic by my neuro.
