I'm definitely a skeptic on the clay and zeolites.Diet never worked for us and we did it for 2 years, continually trying to tighten up this, drop that, etc. It never worked. Nothing good or bad so I stopped. I decided to focus on things that *do* work with my son and stop wasting my $$ on things that clearly weren't doing anything. Now I just feed him healthy foods and call it good. He's happy, I'm happy and I'm not watching my money go up in the toilet. :) I'd rather spend my money on trying new things. Our biggest wows came from prescriptions. Antivirals/antifungals/antibiotics/hormones.

Hi All,

The GFCF diet doesn't seem to make a difference for my son (I've eliminated all his intolerances - wheat, gluten, dairy, cheeses, yogurts, soy, peanuts, cantaloupe, etc.) since March. For those of you who had similar experiences, what did you find to make the most difference for your child/ren?

Just heard about Unique Healing (uniquehealing.com) and using Bentonite as a heal-all. Sounds too good to be true. Does anyone have any experience with it?

Also looking into Humaworm but wondering how I can get my son to take it. Fascinating stuff!

Waiting on results from viral/fungal titer test.

Thank you for your help. I'm a bit frustrated from my son's lack of "wows" and not sure what this diet is doing except making us all crazy!!

All the best,

Is the diet they are eating otherwise good or full of junk? Meat, vegetables

and fruit and no improvement?

The GFCF diet didn't work for us either, but when I switched to SCD it made a

huge difference. I would suggest looking into that if you think diet might be a

factor, as I think it is for a lot of our ASD kids. There are two books on the

topic: Breaking the Viscious Cycle by Elaine Gotchall and GAPS (based on SCD) -

Gut and Psychology Syndrome by Dr. -McBride, the later which is a great

book to explain the mechanisms behind the disorder.

We have not tried bentonite clay but would be interested to hear from others who

have. I have it sitting in my closet.

For us some of the biggest wows have been the diet, LDN, HBOT, TSO and

melatonin.

Thanks, Sara - his diet is a combo of GFCF, SCD, and GAPS (got the cookbook about three weeks ago,) which is probably why he eats hardly anything. His therapist and I are working to overcome his unwillingness to eat anything other than Cinammon Chex with Rice Milk and canned green beans. He loves eggs but is only supposed to get them one every four days. Same with coconut, tomatoes, and garlic.

Will let you know if we try the bentonite!

He eats: Rice Krispies, Cinammon Chex, rice milk, almond milk, coconut milk, eggs, bananas, oranges, apples, carrots, and canned green beans.

I haven't been able to get him to eat meat, including bacon. I did try pureeing chicken and slipped it in a smoothie, but he has recently refused smoothies.

Is there another generic bread that I can give him? I can't find Wonderbread anywhere.

Our therapist and I are working on improving his eating. It took over 9 minutes to get him to eat a tiny piece of lettuce. Finally, after 30 minutes of the "first small (tip of pinky size) piece of lettuce, then a white jelly bean" he ate about 8 bites of lettuce. Painful. I don't know where I'm going to find the time to feed him his meals like this, but I'm not giving up.

But, to answer your question, no difference between now and last winter when he ate what everyone else ate, except that mealtimes are a nightmare and I usually cave in and give him cereal.

When my two older boys complain, all it takes is a look and they eat anything! Sigh...

Ethan hates vegetables, too.  Total carnivore. Will belch and gag at the sight of fruits and veggies.  The food processor is my best friend.  I have grind everything fine enough so he can't pick them out and he's forced to eat his veggies along with his meat.

Going back to the bentonite, I haven't research it yet, but my understanding is that it is a type of clay, I use it 3 times per week on my sons bath, I mean he takes clay bath, bentonite being the clay, it is a gray color clay (I was use to the brick color one from Mexico), anyway it is use in the bath to detox, so I dilute about 1/4 of cup in the tub, so I bathed him one night with epson salts and another with bentonite. I use it for face mask too as I have oily skin. The other day my son smeared vaseline all over his hear, and instead of shampooing 10 times I just spread the diluted bentonite on his head and it was grease free, as it never happened :)I know many people drink it, but you have to be sure it is edible kind. People use it to reduce the gastric acid o just plain indigestion, being clay I'm

sure there is risk of constipation as I'm also sure it has many calming and detoxing properties. Just my opinion.SashaTo: mb12valtrex Sent: Thursday, August 18, 2011 6:05:14 PMSubject: Re: Re: Bentonite?

My skepticism comes from the fact that it's clay. I have no issue with whether or not it's good for the skin or helps with indigestion - I'm sure there's plenty of calcium in it to kill heart burn. There are claims that it chelates. Same thing with zeolites (volcanic ash). Something made of earth is going to be loaded with metals. It can't chelate and be loaded with metals at the same time.So while I'm sure it helps many things, I'm also quite sure it doesn't chelate. I would be happy to be told I'm wrong and someone can come up with labs that show increased metal dumps on betonite or zeolites alone. Until then, I remain skeptical.

I used this before for my daughter. I saw some good gains, every bath seem to give more

"attention" and calming effect. I become excited that I gave her every other day bath

until I went to a "healing" crisis. I called the company where I order it and said to me

to give her activated charcoal (during that time I don't know something about it) and

so hesistant to give it. My daughter become so sick and it could deplete some minerals

in the body, too. So while you are giving her a bath, you will also give her Pedialyte

or Emergen-C. They advised me to slow down the clay bath to only once a week and

start slow with the dose. Up to now, I stopped it and didn't go back to clay bath.

I'm doing a different protocol now, but if I will have a chance I will try it again. I'm

afraid that my daughter will have UTI with this bathing, but the label say it's free

from any pathogen. I got mine from Evenbetternow.com. Just don't get too excited

and just follow the company's advice and instructions. Since mine is a girl, I will

try other things but if nothing works, I'll go back to clay bath.

God bless us all,

mhel
